Principal Architect
at
JPMorganChase within the Commercial Card and Pre‑paid Card team of Commercial and Investment Banking , you provide expertise to enhance and develop architecture platforms based on modern cloud‑based technologies, as well as support the adoption of strategic global solutions. Leverage your advanced architecture capabilities and collaborate with colleagues across the organization to drive best‑in‑class outcomes.

You will be partnering closely with the Tech, product and business operation leaders. You will lead the architectural vision for commercial card issuing and fraud prevention, driving modernization and innovation across our platforms. This is a strategic, hands‑on role for a technical leader passionate about secure, scalable solutions and the future of payments.
Job responsibilities
Advises cross‑functional teams on technology selection to achieve target state architecture and decisions on improvements to current technologies
Develops multi‑year roadmaps aligned with business and architecture strategy and priorities
Leads end‑to‑end architecture for commercial card issuing and fraud prevention, including processor modernization and migration initiatives.
Develops and implements advanced fraud prevention strategies, leveraging AI/ML solutions in partnership with product, engineering, and external vendors.
Partners across business, product, engineering, network teams, and external partners to co‑create and deliver secure, scalable systems that drive new solutions and advance our capabilities.
Serves as the go‑to expert for card issuing and fraud topics within CIB/Payments, providing guidance and thought leadership.
Ensures adherence to architectural standards, security protocols, and industry best practices across all solutions.
Mentors engineering and architecture teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 7+ years applied experience
Deep understanding of payment processors, card networks, and fraud countermeasures.
Practical experience with AI/ML, BI, and cloud technologies (preferably AWS, Databricks, Starburst/Trino, Tableau, Alteryx)
Expertise in designing secure, scalable, and resilient systems.
Influencer with a proven record of successfully driving change and transforming across organizational boundaries
Ability to present and effectively communicate to Senior Leaders and Executives
Ability to mentor and develop technical teams.
Hands‑on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
Expertise in one or more programming language(s)
Practical cloud native experience
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Experience with card processor modernization and large migration projects.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements in payments and fraud.
Recognized as a technical thought leader in payments or fraud prevention.
