Job Description
A Day in the Life
We proudly serve as a teaching unit for new graduate nurses, offering mentorship and hands‑on experience in complex neurological care.
Be part of the only dedicated stroke unit in northern Michigan, a 29‑bed private‑room unit specializing in the care of patients with neurologic deficits.
As part of a Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC) designation, we care for a wide range of complex neurological conditions, including:
Ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes
Seizure disorders
Headaches and mood disorders
Rare and complex neurologic syndromes
Post‑operative neurosurgical care (e.g., thrombectomies, TNK, craniotomies, VP shunts)

State‑of‑the‑Art Technology: One of only five hospitals nationwide with biplane CT scanner.
Comprehensive Monitoring: All rooms are equipped with telemetry and cardiac monitoring.
Multidisciplinary Excellence: One‑unit access to dedicated pharmacists, PT, OT, and speech therapy.
World‑Class Team: Collaborate with renowned neurosurgeons and interventionalists.
Hospital‑Wide Impact: Our nurses are integral to the Stroke Medical Response Team (MRT).
Nurse Residency Program: New nurses are enrolled in our robust Nurse Residency Program, designed to support clinical growth, confidence, and long‑term success.
Qualifications What’s Required
Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Michigan.
Passion for neurology and high‑acuity care.
BLS Certification.
ACLS preferred.
NIH Stroke Scale Certification (to be obtained during unit orientation).
Experienced RNs and new grads with a strong interest in neuro.
Additional Information
Munson Healthcare requires all employees be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella. MHC also requires all employees to receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year that they are hired and annually thereafter, or receive an approved medical or religious exemption.
