Requirements
Current board certification in one of the following disciplines:
PA-C (Physician Assistant-Certified)
AGACNP (Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner)
ACNPC or ACNPC-AG (Acute Care Nurse Practitioner)
Minimum of 1-2 years of post-graduate experience in an inpatient neurology or hospital-based setting (stroke or neurological disorders experience preferred)
BLS and ACLS certification required
State of Michigan License
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skill
Duties & Responsibilities A typical day may include:
Perform neurological assessments, obtain patient histories, and conduct physical examinations
Manage patients with acute neurological conditions in collaboration with the Neurohospitalist team
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests such as imaging and laboratory studies Respond to Code Stroke alerts and assist with time-sensitive interventions
Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning
Document patient care in the EMR (Epic) accurately and timely
Work closely other interdisciplinary care teams to ensure continuity of care
Participate in quality initiatives and protocol-driven care for stroke and neurological disorders
