Join Nifty Gateway Studio (Gemini) as a Senior Software Engineer in the Funding organization, managing crypto transfers and fiat payment support.
Location New York, NY & San Francisco, CA (Hybrid – 2 days in office each week)

Responsibilities
Improve feedback cycles at all levels of development (e.g., local testing, test environments, production deployments).
Quickly ramp up on the existing architecture and product features.
Consistently deliver code that sets the standard for quality and maintainability.
Systematically think through potential design impacts on other teams and the company.
Review other software engineers’ code for correctness, style, and information‑security concerns.
Improve the performance, maintainability, and operations of the Gemini code base through refactoring and upgrade projects.
Identify and advocate for foundational work and practice improvements in our vertical.
Leverage automated testing to eliminate manual touch points.
Mentor less experienced engineers and onboard new team members.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field and 5 years of progressive post‑baccalaureate software development experience, or Master’s (or foreign equivalent) and 3 years of related experience.
2+ years of experience designing, building, and operating production backend services or microservices, including well‑tested APIs (REST and/or gRPC) and a strong understanding of system‑design fundamentals.
3+ years of proficiency in at least one modern backend language (Java, Kotlin, Go, Scala, or Python) with a demonstrated ability to produce maintainable, testable, and high‑quality code.
2+ years of experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and at least one NoSQL store or event/queue system (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent).
2+ years of experience deploying and operating services on a major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and monitoring/observability tools.
Experience participating in code reviews, peer mentorship, and cross‑functional work with Product, Compliance, or Risk teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing high‑availability, high‑throughput transactional or financial systems with emphasis on data integrity, idempotency, and fault tolerance.
Experience integrating with ACH/NACHA, wire transfers (Fedwire/SWIFT/ISO 20022), RTP, card processors/networks, or payout providers, and familiarity with reconciliation and ledgering workflows.
Knowledge of PCI DSS, SOC 2, or other regulatory standards, and experience collaborating with KYC/AML or fraud/risk teams.
Experience designing and implementing streaming or asynchronous processing systems (e.g., Kafka) with exactly‑once or effectively‑once semantics.
Experience operating SLO‑driven services, including use of rate limiting, circuit breaking, and backpressure techniques, and participating in incident response/on‑call rotations.
Experience with crypto or fintech systems, including exchanges, wallets/custody solutions, blockchain transaction lifecycles, or fiat–crypto on/off‑ramps.
Experience leading projects or mentoring engineers, contributing to architecture decisions, dependency management, and promoting engineering best practices across teams.

Salary Range The base salary range for this role is $140,000 – $200,000 in the States of New York, California, and Washington. This range does not include discretionary bonus or equity. Salary is determined by skill set, experience, job scope, and current market data.
