Summary
Integral part of the Government Affairs lobbying team working to represent the views of NCBA’s membership on policy issues that impact the cattle business. The Senior Director will maintain and develop professional relationships with industry stakeholders, Members of Congress, Congressional staff, and Federal agency staff, serving as an authoritative voice on the economics of the U.S. cattle industry. Essential Functions
Meet with Congressional staff to discuss the policy priorities for NCBA. Assist lobby staff in executing strategies that further advance the policy and legislative priorities of the cattle business. Evaluate and analyze legislation and regulations to determine the impact on cattle producers. Work with state affiliates and members to address policy questions. Create reports, economic analysis, letters, statements, testimony, and other correspondence related to policy. Attend legislative and coalition meetings, congressional hearings, and other events. Prepare for legislative meetings by arranging speakers, developing agendas, and coordinating committee activities with association leadership, serving as Staff Director for NCBA’s Cattle Marketing Committee. Attend PAC meetings and fundraising events. Serve as a liaison to the CME Group, Futures Industry Association, National Grain and Feed Association, Commodity Markets Council, and other trade groups that work on futures issues. Work closely with relevant USDA agencies and offices as well as the CFTC to address regulatory concerns. Coordinate with NCBA’s Livestock Marketing Council and the Livestock Marketing Association on livestock marketing issues. Other job duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Advance degree in a relevant economic discipline. Minimum 2 years legislative or related experience required; background in cattle marketing preferred. Excellent writing, communication, and people skills; strong knowledge of the legislative process; ability to handle multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment. Company Description
