Description AWS Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) are technologists with deep domain-specific expertise, able to address advanced concepts and feature designs. As part of the AWS sales organization, SSAs work with customers who have complex challenges that require expert-level knowledge to solve. SSAs craft scalable, flexible, and resilient technical architectures that address those challenges and guide customers to refactor or redesign cloud-based systems. This senior role focuses on High Performance Computing (HPC) solutions for physical‑based modeling, CAE, weather, machine learning, and GPU‑accelerated computation. The architect will help customers understand best practices around advanced cloud‑based solutions and how to migrate existing workloads to AWS, shaping and executing strategies to build mind‑share and broad use of AWS within enterprise customers.
Key Job Responsibilities
Design customer solutions and collaborate with wider AWS teams to build HPC solutions leveraging AWS services.
Engage with Solution Architects, Account Managers, Professional Services, and Partners to define an HPC engagement strategy for AWS operational territories and key accounts, especially public sector National Super Computing Centers, Government agencies, AI/ML, CAE, weather, and accelerated GPU computing.
Provide thought leadership through external publications such as the AWS Compute Blog, whitepapers, reference architectures, and internal training of Solutions Architects, Professional Services Consultants, Technical Account Managers, and AWS Trainers.
Support business development and accounting management to ensure customer success in building and migrating applications, software, and services on AWS.
Assist solution providers with technical and business strategy definition and implementation.
Capture and share best‑practice knowledge with the worldwide AWS solution architect community.
Understand AWS market segments and industry verticals, and exploit internal business support systems.

Basic Qualifications
Experience communicating across technical and non‑technical audiences, including executive‑level stakeholders.
Developer experience with HPC frameworks for domains such as CAE, weather simulation, oil and gas, automotive/aerospace, financial services, or pharmaceuticals.
Proven ability to understand HPC user requirements and map these to solutions.
Experience in architecting an HPC platform with scheduling middleware (e.g., Slurm, Torque, Symphony, GridServer).
Experience in deployment, tuning, and management of HPC technologies in a multi‑user environment.
High‑level understanding of the underlying infrastructure platform and resources to run HPC services.
Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages: C++, Python, CUDA, Bash.
Deep GPU knowledge in HPC and/or AI/ML frameworks.
Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in computer science, machine learning, engineering, or related fields.
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or container ecosystems, or experience in software development.
Effective communication across all levels of the organization.
Knowledge of operating systems, hardware, storage, network, security, database administration, and cloud infrastructure.
Experience implementing AWS services.
Working knowledge of HPC schedulers, distributed/parallel file systems, underlying IT systems, and the HPC development process.
Understanding of the cloud computing delivery model as it relates to HPC.

Compensation for this position ranges from $138,200 to $239,000 per year, varying by market location and qualifications. Additional compensation may include equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation. This position remains posted until filled.
