Chief Financial Officer About Price Benowitz LLP

Price Benowitz LLP is a fast‑growing law firm headquartered in the DMV area. We are recognized for our commitment to passion, integrity, and excellence in every aspect of our practice. Our team of attorneys and professionals works collaboratively to deliver the highest quality of service to our clients, while fostering a dynamic and supportive workplace culture.

About the Role Price Benowitz LLP is seeking a hands‑on, growth‑oriented Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with proven experience helping small businesses scale. The ideal candidate has built systems, teams, and financial infrastructure from the inside, not from a consulting or advisory capacity. We are specifically looking for someone who has rolled up their sleeves in a small or midsize organization, strengthened financial operations, and supported sustainable growth during periods of expansion. This executive role works directly with the Managing Partners to lead financial strategy, improve operational efficiency, and build scalable systems for a multi‑state law firm.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a strategic partner to the Managing Partners, supporting long‑term planning, growth decisions, and profitability initiatives.

Apply real‑world, small‑company experience to optimize financial structure, improve margins, and support expansion into new markets.

Build out financial infrastructure and processes that support growth without overcomplication.

Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash management, financial modeling, and reporting.

Ensure timely and accurate month‑end and year‑end financials.

Strengthen internal controls, accounting practices, and financial policies.

Identify operational bottlenecks and implement practical, scalable solutions.

Improve efficiency through better workflows, automation, and streamlined systems—appropriate for a growing firm (not overbuilt or overly corporate).

Lead software upgrades or financial system transitions with a focus on usability and clarity.

Manage and mentor a small accounting/finance team.

Oversee AP/AR, billing, collections, financial reconciliation, and trust accounting.

Ensure compliance with GAAP and legal/financial requirements relevant to law firms.

Coordinate external audits, banking relationships, insurance, and financial vendors.

Manage the firm’s insurance portfolio, tax filings, and compliance obligations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA/CPA preferred.

10+ years of progressive financial leadership, with significant tenure inside a small or midsize company.

Demonstrated experience directly helping a small business or firm scale—not advisory‑only or consulting roles.

Strong operational understanding of finance, budgeting, forecasting, and cash‑flow management.

Practical, execution‑focused mindset with the ability to balance strategic planning and day‑to‑day financial operations.

Experience improving financial processes, implementing systems, and building team structure during growth phases.

Key Competencies

Builder mentality with real small‑business operational experience

Pragmatic, resourceful, and solutions‑oriented

Clear communicator with strong leadership skills

High integrity, discretion, and professional judgment

Ability to simplify complex financial concepts for non‑financial stakeholders

Location Washington, D.C. (In‑Office, Full‑Time)

Compensation $250,000 base salary + performance‑based incentives

Why Join Us This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the financial and operational future of a dynamic and growing law firm.
