About the Role Fifth Third Bank's Restaurant & Franchise Corporate Investment Banking Group is seeking a Managing Director to join our team. The Restaurant & Franchise Group is a full-service corporate banking, investment banking, and capital markets platform dedicated to serving brands and franchisees in the restaurant, fitness, and multi‑unit consumer industries. Over the last decade, Fifth Third has become the preeminent capital arranger and strategic advisor driven by prolific sector expertise across the related M&A and debt capital markets.

General Function The Managing Director is a player/coach, maintaining and growing their own portfolio while developing new relationships and providing leadership, direction, and supervision to the team. This leader ensures coordination of due diligence and workflow of team members to drive flawless execution for clients within the Bank's risk tolerance. Individuals in this position must be approved by the Managing Director Committee.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined.

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure that relationships are managed to the highest profit potential for the Bank based on client need.

Develop profitable new business, cross‑sell all applicable 5/3 products and services as appropriate, and manage the transaction process.

Responsible for the delivery of value‑added financial solutions (ranging from traditional to customized products) to existing and prospective clients that will help them to enhance their business.

Support the development of Directors, Principals, Associates and Analysts on the team.

Produce and maintain profitable commercial loan volume, driving capital markets fees, and ancillary fees.

Develop and maintain important client relationships.

Identify and facilitate conversations with businesses that do not maintain their primary banking relationship with 5/3 with the ultimate goal of moving the primary banking relationship to 5/3.

Develop intimate knowledge of all customers and businesses.

Support the underwriting of credit requests, dive loan approval process within established risk appetite and make recommendations on credit and client selection decisions.

Monitor, on an ongoing basis, via reporting and documentation, information concerning customer performance, abilities, and industry to determine that the business is at an acceptable risk level.

Identify acceptable business opportunities that have the potential of leading to significant revenues.

Keep abreast of trends, developments and current regulations in the industry and in local markets.

Coordinate all client‑facing activities related to their clients, including credit support and other product areas (e.g., Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Treasury Management) partners.

Attend community and/or industry‑specific forums, conferences and/or meetings in order to broaden relationship network and continually deepen knowledge of trends, practices, products and competitors.

Provide support to the Capital Markets businesses by assessing whether securities products and capital markets services would be appropriate for a particular client, and working with the Capital Markets teams to provide those products and services to clients.

Supervisory Responsibilities Responsible for providing employees timely, candid and constructive performance feedback; developing employees to their fullest potential and providing challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth, developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.

Minimum Knowledge & Skills Required

Undergraduate degree required, MBA preferred.

8‑10+ years experience in Restaurant & Franchise Banking, Investment Banking, M&A or Capital Markets required.

Strong credit and corporate finance and leveraged finance skills required, left lead arranger in syndicated credit facilities experience preferred.

Must possess superior client relationship, marketing presentation, and sales skills in addition to extensive knowledge of products and markets.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications, negotiation, and analytical skills. Ability to coach and inspire sales team.

Demonstrated sales and negotiating experience.

Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 79, and 63 license required.

Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.

Compensation Total Base Pay Range: 119,500.00 – 256,900.00 USD per year.

Base salary is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
