Overview LMI seeks a Senior Acquisition Team Lead to support a Customs and Border Protection program. The Senior Acquisition Team Lead will provide leadership and oversight across acquisition support for a large, complex CBP program supporting mission-critical activities. The Team Lead leads a team of contractor acquisition and program management professionals, ensuring high-quality delivery of acquisition products and services, driving innovation and process improvements, and collaborating closely with program managers, contracting officials, and other stakeholders. This role requires a strong customer-service mindset, deep acquisition expertise, and proactive engagement capabilities. The role requires on‑site presence in Washington, DC 1‑2 days per week.

Responsibilities Program Focal Point:

Serve as the Government PM's primary POC for individual programs.

Leadership & Team Management

Lead, mentor, and supervise contractor acquisition and program management staff across a program.

Program Execution:

Responsible and accountable for all aspects of the program's daily tasks, deliverables, and activities, including planning and execution, logistics, and staffing requirements where applicable.

Elevates risks, issues, and opportunities when appropriate.

Responds to internal and external taskers/questions and inquiries on assigned tasks, projects, and business analysis.

Proactive Mindset:

Proactively resolves risks and issues that impact the team's ability to support USBP's mission and goals.

Quality:

Leads the team to develop program deliverables and work products for quality, accuracy, completeness, and adherence to client and LMI and PMOD customer quality standards.

Cross‑Program Collaboration:

Collaborates with adjacent teams.

Team Building and Resource Coordination:

Leads allocated LMI resources to accomplish team priorities, monitors performance, and conducts the LMI program staff, continually guiding staff and reinforcing desired behaviors.

Creates a strong, high‑performing team environment.

Acquisition and Program Management Support & Execution

Provides acquisition and contracting subject matter expertise and advisory support regarding DHS acquisition practices and lifecycle governance, including:

Contract awards and management

Source selection support

Cost and pricing support

Contract administration support

Oversees the development and review of acquisition presentations and documentation (e.g., acquisition strategies, market research, SOWs/PWSs, IGCEs, evaluation criteria).

Works with US Border Patrol to establish and monitor the program's execution towards milestones, key events, and significant accomplishment criteria.

Innovation & Process Improvement

Identifies and implements process improvements to enhance acquisition execution, documentation quality, and efficiency.

Introduces innovative tools, approaches, and acquisition techniques aligned with DHS mission needs and federal procurement regulations.

Resolves issues, removes roadblocks, and supports continuous improvement across the program.

Qualifications Required:

10+ years of experience in federal acquisition support, including hands‑on experience across the acquisition lifecycle (DoD or DHS).

Proven leadership experience managing teams of 5‑10 people.

Bachelor's degree in business, management, finance, or a related discipline.

Expert knowledge of FAR, acquisition frameworks, processes, and governance (DoD or DHS).

Success forming strong working relationships with government program managers and stakeholders.

Exceptional communication, presentation, and customer‑engagement skills.

Ability to motivate staff, foster collaboration, and build a high‑performing team environment.

Ability to resolve issues, advise senior stakeholders, and drive results in complex acquisition environments.

Passes a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance abuse, and employment verifications; an active U.S. Customs and Border Protection Background Investigation (BI) is required. Only U.S. citizens are eligible.

Desired:

DHS acquisition experience.

DAWIA/DACM certification, FAC‑C/FAC‑P/PM, or equivalent.

PMP or other program management certification.

Master's degree in business, management, finance, or a related discipline.

Target salary range: $150,000 - $180,000
