Position Overview
Requisition ID: 178898 – Position Level: Internship – Employment Type: Full Time Temporary.
Are you interested in a hands‑on real‑world learning experience directly related to the skills needed in a full‑time construction career? In this internship, you will develop, participate and learn key roles and functions within construction management, working on projects such as tunnels, bridges, and energy infrastructure.
District Overview Kiewit’s Eastern District specializes in challenging heavy civil construction projects throughout the Northeast, including bridge, transit, foundation, tunnel, and water/wastewater construction. We are leaders in cast‑in‑place concrete, structural steel erection, earthwork, pile driving, and caissons, with a strong presence in the energy/power sector.
Location Assignments will be determined close to your start date. Projects are located in the Great Lakes Area, the DMV area, and the Northeast. Must be able to travel frequently and relocate as business needs require.
Responsibilities
Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, estimating, and supervision of field activities.
Perform standard engineering tasks, addressing minor technical problems arising during construction.
Maintain records on job progress, costs and material usage.
Plan and schedule job segments.
Investigate problems or incidents, identify and recommend solutions.
Review plans and specifications to determine material requirements and pricing.
Work with suppliers to facilitate material delivery.
Qualifications
Ability to travel or relocate as needed.
Availability for full‑time work during the summer (May–August).
Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, electrical engineering, construction management or a related field.
Ability to work in varying climates and environments onsite.
Highly motivated with a passion for excellence and initiative.
Strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
Demonstrated ethics and integrity.
Passion for safety; able to help ensure no one is harmed.
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Team player who can work independently to meet deadlines.

Compensation and Benefits Base Compensation:
$17.00/hour – $24.00/hour (actual rate varies based on education, experience, skill set, and location).
