Senior Engineering Manager, Growth Platform
role at
Scribd, Inc.
About The Company At Scribd Inc. (pronounced “scribbed”), our mission is to spark human curiosity. Join our team as we create a world of stories and knowledge, democratize the exchange of ideas and information, and empower collective expertise through our four products: Everand, Scribd, Slideshare, and Fable. We support a culture where our employees can be real and bold; where we debate and commit as we embrace plot twists; and where every employee is empowered to take action as we prioritize the customer. We believe in balancing individual flexibility and community connections. Through our flexible work benefit, Scribd Flex, employees can choose the daily work‑style that best suits their needs, while intentional in‑person moments build collaboration, culture, and connection. Occasional in‑person attendance is required for all employees, regardless of location. We hire for “GRIT”—a blend of goals, results, innovative ideas, and teamwork.
About The Role Growth is more than campaigns; it’s a system. Millions of readers engage across our brands, and we’re investing in a Growth Platform that makes user acquisition, onboarding, retention, and lifecycle marketing faster, measurable, and scalable. As
Senior Engineering Manager, Growth Platform , you’ll lead a business‑critical platform team inside Growth Engineering. Your team builds systems and integrations that enable efficient go‑to‑market execution: landing pages, campaign tooling, tracking and attribution, audience segmentation, experimentation support, and third‑party MarTech integrations. You’ll partner closely with Product, Performance Marketing, Partnerships, Data Platform, and Analytics to build reliable foundations and translate growth strategy into high‑leverage technical capabilities.
What You’ll Do
Lead the engineering strategy and execution for Scribd’s Growth Platform, spanning acquisition enablement, promotional offer support, audience segmentation, and lifecycle marketing integrations.
Build and manage a high‑performing full‑stack team, developing engineers while fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous learning.
Stay deeply technical: act as an architectural and execution partner to the Tech Lead, driving thoughtful system design and sustainable delivery.
Partner closely with stakeholders to translate business goals into roadmaps, prioritize investments, and deliver high‑impact initiatives across multiple brands and channels.
Lead integrations with paid media platforms and third‑party data exchange tooling to support tracking, event feeds, audience sync, and campaign measurement.
Own cross‑channel measurement foundations: champion reliable instrumentation, telemetry, attribution quality, and data‑informed decision‑making in partnership with Analytics.
Drive integration and vendor decisions across the MarTech stack—evaluating tools, designing integrations, and ensuring scalable, secure, maintainable solutions.
Champion engineering excellence in reliability, scalability, code quality, testing, and continuous delivery, so Growth teams can move fast with confidence.
What We’re Looking For Must‑Haves
7+ years of engineering experience, including 3–5+ years in engineering management, leading high‑performing teams delivering customer‑facing or platform systems.
Demonstrated growth impact: led teams whose work measurably improved conversion, retention, engagement, and/or LTV (ideally in subscription or consumer products).
Strong technical foundation and architecture depth: guide scalable system design, set quality bars, and lead through ambiguity and trade‑offs.
Experience with growth and marketing systems—SEM, ad platform integrations, attribution/tracking, experimentation frameworks, CDPs, CMS/landing page systems, analytics instrumentation, or marketing APIs.
Cross‑functional leadership strength: align diverse stakeholders, set clear priorities, and execute in fast‑paced environments.
People‑first leadership: proven ability to coach, develop, and retain strong engineers while fostering psychological safety and high standards.
Bonus Experience
Deep familiarity with multi‑channel paid acquisition, tracking/attribution challenges (web + mobile), and data quality practices.
Hands‑on experience with event tracking, experimentation platforms, segmentation systems, offer/promo tooling, or funnel optimization in subscription products.
Experience operating platform teams that serve multiple internal customers with clear SLAs, roadmaps, and support models.
Why This Role, Why Now? Growth Platform is a force multiplier: solid foundations enable teams across Performance Marketing, Lifecycle, Partnerships, and Product to ship faster, learn reliably, and scale what works across Scribd’s portfolio. We’re investing in the next phase of our Growth engineering capabilities, improving measurement trust, reducing friction in go‑to‑market execution, and building scalable systems that drive acquisition and retention outcomes.
