Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is seeking a visionary and strategic Lead AI Product Owner to drive the future of our agentic AI framework. This is a leadership role where you will be at the forefront of innovation, shaping a significant product line that will redefine how we engage with our customers and streamline our operations.
As the strategic leader for a broad product domain, you will be responsible for the overarching product strategy, defining a clear vision, and ensuring its alignment with our company's goals and the AI Center of Excellence (COE) vision. You will guide a talented team of Product Owners, mentor their growth, and foster a culture of excellence and innovation.
This role is eligible for our Flex Persona for candidates local to our Boston, MA office.
What You’ll Do
Define Product Area Strategy & Vision: Champion the long‑term product vision and strategy for your designated product domain within our advanced agentic framework.
Own the Strategic Roadmap: Develop and manage the strategic roadmap for your entire product area, ensuring it aligns with business objectives, market needs, and technical feasibility.
Lead Cross‑Domain Collaboration: Work closely with other Lead Product Owners, business leaders, and AI Architects to ensure the seamless delivery of end‑to‑end agentic solutions.
Mentor and Lead a Team: Guide, coach, and develop a team of Senior Product Owners and Product Owners, cultivating a strong product‑focused culture.
Drive Business Value: Take accountability for the business value, ROI, and overall performance of your product domain, tracking key performance indicators and communicating the impact to senior leadership.
Manage Senior Stakeholders: Build and maintain strong relationships with senior business stakeholders and executive sponsors, translating their needs into strategic product initiatives.
Stay Ahead of the Curve: Maintain a deep understanding of market trends, competitor strategies in the AI agent space, and emerging Generative AI technologies to influence our strategic direction.
Required Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, or a related field.
10+ years of technical development experience, preferably in full‑stack development, with knowledge of the healthcare payer domain.
Proven experience leading, mentoring, and coaching a team of product owners.
Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with senior business stakeholders and executive sponsors.
Proficiency in agile methodologies and tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
Strong knowledge of AI/ML concepts, including model training, RAG architecture, and major AI platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Experience in defining and championing a long‑term product vision and strategy for a technical product domain.
Preferred Qualifications
A Master’s degree in a related field.
Professional certifications on any major AI platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Minimum Education Requirements High school degree or equivalent required unless otherwise noted above.

Salary Range USD $164,070 – $200,530 per year. This range may be modified in the future. Variable pay may be available.
