As a Senior Electrical Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing large‑scale electrical projects and teams – locally and nationally.

What You’ll Do

Lead electrical design on large‑scale projects across corporate, higher education, and performing arts sectors.

Manage project teams locally and nationally to ensure high‑quality, timely delivery of electrical systems and solutions.

Develop and review electrical designs, including power distribution, lighting systems, and control systems, ensuring compliance with codes and client requirements.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and design professionals.

Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate electrical systems into innovative, functional designs.

Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and project teams to drive projects forward and ensure expectations are met.

In This Role You Will

Assess project requirements, break projects into tasks, and work with the design team to determine scope, budget, and staffing.

Write scopes of work for electrical design based on preliminary reviews and client meetings.

Prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems and analyze operation of existing systems.

Present complex engineering analysis clearly and effectively to owners and design teams.

Document existing conditions and perform complex and detailed troubleshooting, resolving conflicting design requirements, code issues, and design options.

Research non‑routine code issues and obtain interpretations from code officials.

Produce sketches and system schematics for complicated design tasks.

Prepare engineering opinions of probable cost for electrical systems and review contractor cost estimates.

Develop calculations using engineering formulas for electrical designs, including whole building electrical loads, lighting calculations, power distribution calculations, equipment sizing, specification editing, and punch list creation.

Review drawings and documents to assure compliance with company design and production standards.

Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of construction processes and delivery methods.

Assist in the education and development of design staff and act as a resource for questions.

You Will Need To Have

BS or MS degree in electrical engineering.

Professional licensure is required.

12+ years of experience leading electrical design for government, commercial, corporate, higher education, and/or performing arts projects.

Documented experience with an MEP engineering firm or A/E firm providing electrical design.

Expertise in National Fire Protection Association Codes (NFPA) with knowledge of applicable city, state, federal, IECC, LEED, and ASHRAE requirements.

Working knowledge of Revit software.

Familiarity with electrical analysis software (e.g., SKM, Easy Power) and knowledge of current sustainable technologies applicable to commercial electrical systems.

Salary Information The pay range aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA’s robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans, PTO and short‑ and long‑term disability programs.

Salary range: $121,000 – $147,800 depending on experience and expertise.
