Senior Technical Marketing Engineer – Service Provider About the Position HPE Juniper Networking is seeking a senior, passionate, and highly motivated Senior Technical Marketing Engineer to drive and own technical marketing activities with an emphasis on Service Provider—5G xHaul, Cloud Metro, Broadband Edge, and Telco markets, and to be a primary contributor to HPE Juniper Service Provider and AI‑era architectures.

This individual will be part of HPE Juniper’s TME and PLM organization and a strategic partner to go‑to‑market and R&D engineering teams to define, advocate for, and drive the evolution of the product portfolio, including new solutions for AI workloads and Service Provider AI architectures (e.g., AI/ML training and inference fabrics, AI‑ready transport, and edge AI services) and cloud‑delivered services.

This role is a key senior individual contributor position that requires leadership across cross‑functional teams—engineering, QA/test, product management, marketing, sales, and systems engineering—to execute against HPE Juniper’s growth strategy in the AI and Cloud Metro era.

Responsibilities

Act as technical advisor and go‑to subject matter expert for targeted platforms and solutions; help product teams drive Service Provider, AI‑ready transport, and xHaul platform strategy, product definition, and program execution.

Develop a coherent solution story focused on:

5G (and emerging 6G‑ready) xHaul and Open RAN/Cloud RAN transport

Cloud Metro and Broadband Edge architectures

Cable DAA, FWA, and converged IP service edge

Service Provider AI architectures and AI‑centric use cases, including AI data center interconnect, AI/ML clusters, and distributed inference/edge AI.

Communicate value propositions, architectures, and implementation details to customers and internal sales organizations by:

Developing technical collateral (white papers, solution briefs, reference designs, validated designs)

Delivering live webinars, conference sessions, and technical demos

Contributing content to blogs, videos, and Git/GitHub‑hosted assets (lab guides, code samples, configs).

Design and implement compelling Proof of Concept (PoC) lab setups and demos for SP and Cloud Metro / AI solutions, including:

Segment Routing (SR‑MPLS and/or SRv6) and SR‑TE/SR Policies

Advanced EVPN services (e.g., EVPN‑VPWS/ELAN/ETREE, L3VPN)

Traffic engineering and fast reroute (e.g., TI‑LFA)

Integration with automation frameworks and CI/CD. Document results clearly and maintain demos so they are reproducible by sales and SE teams.

Drive network automation and telemetry blueprints, including:

Design of workflows using NETCONF/gNMI, YANG models, REST/JSON APIs, Ansible, Terraform, Python, and/or controller platforms (e.g., Routing Director or similar).

Definition and validation of streaming telemetry and observability architectures (gNMI, model‑driven telemetry, Kafka/data‑lake ingestion, dashboards, closed‑loop automation).

Translate AI workload requirements into transport and metro network architectures, including capacity planning, latency/jitter constraints, traffic engineering (segment routing/SRv6 policies), QoS, and multi‑tenant isolation.

Produce competitive analysis collateral that highlights HPE Junipers’ strengths and areas for improvement (features, scale, performance, TCO, operational model) and keep it current with market evolution.

Evangelize HPE Juniper’s vision for network transformation in the AI and 5G era by:

Participating in external events (conferences, forums, webinars)

Contributing to industry standards bodies and ecosystem partnerships where appropriate.

Proactively identify gaps in product and solution roadmaps by continually validating against real customer use cases and deployments—spanning Cloud Metro, AI‑centric transport, broadband, and xHaul.

Work closely with sales, SEs, and regional architects to gather requirements, prioritize them, and drive commitments with engineering organizations.

Generate sales and product collateral (presentations, battlecards, solution briefs, validated design documents) tailored to different audience levels (executive, architectural, operational).

Collaborate with marketing to develop and execute go‑to‑market strategies and launch plans for new platforms and solutions, including AI‑related and automation‑centric offers.

Participate in RFP/RFI responses and defenses, contribute to reusable technical boilerplates and configuration templates that accelerate future responses.

Build and expand relationships with service provider, cloud, and AI/edge customers, serving as a trusted technical advisor and feedback channel back into engineering and PLM.

Minimum Qualifications This role requires the ability to build and drive deep‑dive technical solution blueprints and network architectures and to be a subject matter expert in key areas of Service Provider networking. The ideal candidate thinks strategically, crosses technical and marketing domains fluidly, and can distill complex concepts into practical implementation guidance.

BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field.

10+ years of experience in the Service Provider market, focused on IP routing and switching, including large‑scale backbone, metro, or broadband networks.

3+ years of experience in Technical Marketing, Consulting/Systems Engineering, or architecture roles and/or Cloud Providers.

Exposure to at least one major Service Provider domain such as:

Cloud Metro or Metro Ethernet

Mobile/xHaul and Open RAN/Cloud RAN transport

SP WAN Core and Edge

Broadband Edge and aggregation

AI/ML and data‑intensive workloads (DCI for AI clusters, GPU fabrics, or edge inference backhaul).

Excellent knowledge of routing and switching protocols and SP architectures, including but not limited to:

IP/MPLS, Segment Routing (SR‑MPLS and/or SRv6)

L3VPN, EVPN (EVPN‑VPWS, EVPN‑ELAN/ETREE, EVPN‑L3)

Traffic Engineering (SR‑TE Policies, RSVP‑TE), fast reroute, QoS

OAM and service assurance mechanisms.

Knowledge of carrier‑class hardware and software architectures for routers and switches (line cards, fabric, scale and resiliency considerations, control vs. data plane separation).

Hands‑on experience with at least one major vendor’s SP portfolio (HPE Juniper, Cisco, Nokia, Arista, etc.). Experience with JUNOS and HPE Juniper WAN/Routing Director portfolios is a strong plus.

Proven track record of developing end‑to‑end network solutions and reference architectures for complex Service Provider networks, including lab validation and documentation.

Experience with network automation and programmability, such as:

NETCONF/gNMI, YANG models

Ansible, Terraform, Python scripting, CI/CD pipelines

Controller‑based architectures (e.g., Routing Director or equivalent).

Experience with telemetry and observability, such as:

Streaming telemetry (gNMI/model‑driven)

Export to time‑series / observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, InfluxDB, Kafka, data lakes)

Integration with NMS/OSS and closed‑loop automation systems.

Familiarity with AI‑adjacent and cloud‑native architectures, such as:

Data center and AI fabrics, DCI for accelerator/GPU clusters

Container networking and Kubernetes (CNI, CNFs)

Multi‑cloud and interconnect architectures.

Ability to perform thorough technical and architectural analyses of competitor products/solutions, and to translate that into clear positioning and guidance.

Ability to articulate the value proposition of a product or solution in both business and technical terms, tailored to executives, architects, and operators.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to present at industry conferences, customer workshops, and internal enablement sessions.

Curious about technical details, self‑driven learner, and comfortable working in fast‑moving technology domains (AI, automation, SRv6, Cloud Metro).

Preferred Qualifications
