Senior Tax Manager – Mauldin & Jenkins, LLC
Job Responsibilities
Act as a supervisor to ensure client work is performed within time, scope, and budget.
See the big picture for the client’s business, objectives, and industry; think creatively to solve business problems and manage team conflict.
Manage engagement and client expectations, ensure satisfaction, and communicate upward.
Build and maintain client relationships through direct contact at appropriate levels, consistently providing timely responses to client and internal requests.
Additional duties as assigned.
Assess problem/issue materiality and interpret implications for the client; understand the client’s tolerance for risk.
Lead client meetings.
Build knowledge of the firm’s services and effectively present ideas to clients that result in additional services.
Research and review work papers for book-to-tax differences.
Apply relevant tax law to particular clients and circumstances.
Demonstrate an understanding of and apply tax planning concepts.
Maintain a strong understanding of tax codes, regulations, rulings, and case law.
Recognize industry trends and identify opportunities for savings and risk reduction applicable to the client’s business and tax burden.
Review research findings, tax returns, and client tax work papers; ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standards, determining implications and the best course of action for the client.
Understand and follow all firm policies, AICPA ethics rules, Circular 230, 6694, and other professional standards.
Seek business development opportunities through new or existing contacts.
Understand our business, how we generate profit, and act quickly to capitalize on opportunities.
Requirements
Undergraduate degree required; Master’s preferred.
CPA required.
7+ years of tax experience required.
Comprehensive understanding of tax code/rules and implications.
Experience preparing returns and researching complex tax issues.
Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
