Position Summary Digitization Specialists perform hands-on scanning and processing of historical aerial and satellite film using specialized equipment. They ensure accurate metadata tagging, secure data transfer, and image quality aligned with NGA standards.
Key Responsibilities
Retrieve, inspect, clean, repair, and prepare film for scanning
Operate scanners including Meridian Dragon, DSW700, FlexScan, CopiBook
Meet production requirement of 10 cans/day
Convert imagery into TIFF, GeoTIFF, NITF formats
Perform metadata tagging and quality control checks
Follow DTO, clean-room, and safety procedures
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience with imaging systems, film scanning, or digital archiving
Familiarity with GEOINT tools (ENVI, ArcGIS, NextStar) preferred
Understanding of TIFF, GeoTIFF, NITF formats (training available)
Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand for long periods
