Staff Accountant

Stamford, Hybrid (3 days/week onsite)

Position Overview They are seeking a detail‑oriented and driven Staff Accountant to join a small, collaborative accounting team (10‑person office). This hands‑on role requires versatility and the ability to manage multiple priorities across various accounting functions. You’ll work in an intimate office setting with direct access to a supportive and friendly leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with month‑end and year‑end close activities (October 31st fiscal year‑end)
Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Maintain Fixed Assets and depreciation schedules
Execute complex bank reconciliations across multiple banking relationships
Manage accounts receivable and collections processes
Handle invoicing and billing operations
Oversee tax compliance including sales tax and property tax returns
Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure compliance with accounting standards
Support preparation of financial statements and comprehensive financial reports
Perform ad‑hoc analysis and projects as assigned
Adapt to changing priorities and wear multiple hats as business needs require
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
3‑5 years of accounting experience
(public or corporate accounting background preferred)
Essential:
Experience with Acumatica or comparable large‑scale ERP systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
