Brookings Harbor High School Golf Coach 2025 2026 School Year Stipend: $5906.00

PURPOSE The Head Coach is responsible for the athletic program for his/her particular sport. The Head Coach is responsible for the organization and supervision of the program, the safety of the students, the technical development of the students, and the engagement with staff, parents, school leadership, local community and the state athletics community. The responsibility of carrying on the activity in the best interest of the school system will rest with the Head Coach. He/she will do this by adhering to the policies of the Board of Education, regulations by the Principal, the Athletic Coordinator and the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA).

REPORTS TO Athletic Coordinator

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Conducts oneself in the best interest of students, in accordance with the highest traditions of public education and in support of the District’s Mission.

Role model good sportsmanship, fair play and ethical conduct.

Role model and expect good conduct of coaches, players and managers under his/her direct jurisdiction and report serious misconduct to the Athletic Coordinator or Principal.

Determine the system of play to be utilized.

Plan and implement practices that enhance the physical stamina, the emotional well-being, and the technical acument of the students.

Hold clinics for coaches in his/her sport or activity, (to include all levels).

Assume responsibility for scheduling of practice sessions with due consideration for the rest of the staff and the welfare of the participants.

Ensure that instructional class time shall not be used for extra-curricular activity practices or meetings.

Ensure that actual practice time is outside of school hours and shall have daily limits of 2 ½ hours for grades 9-12, not including dressing time.

Ensure that when special circumstances arise regarding practices during school, it must be pre-approved by the Superintendent.

Make recommendations to the Athletic Coordinator or Principal in matters of game scheduling.

Prepare budget requests for his/her sport or activity.

Assume responsible for the care and marking equipment, supplies and physical properties used by the participants in the particular activity and submitting an inventory at the close of the season.

Maintains effective working relationships with school personnel, students, and parents. Effectively works and communicates with students, parents, and staff from diverse cultures or backgrounds including those who speak limited or no English.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent required

Rules Clinic Attendance

Valid 1st Aid (completed within 60 days from date of hire and to be maintained for the duration of this job)

Type II Driver’s License or willingness and ability to obtain (maintained for the duration of this job)

Successful Oregon State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance

Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later)

I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act

Experience and/or training with cultural, ethnic, and language diversity preferred

Completion of all district-required trainings within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date

Working knowledge of specific sport fitness, safety methods, and techniques

WORKING CONDITIONS Work is typically performed outdoors or in a gymnasium; requires substantial extra-hours work, travel between sites, stamina and endurance, and physical exertion associated with demonstrating techniques; must be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather; may be required to balance, crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods; may be exposed to high noise levels and childhood diseases; and may experience a multitude of demands and changing priorities with frequent interruptions.
