The Senior Director of Business Development for National Security Space is a strategic role responsible for identifying, developing, and capturing new business opportunities within the Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), and other federal agencies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in selling complex technical solutions to the U.S. government, a deep understanding of the space and satellite communications industry, and an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance. Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy focused on three core areas:
Ground Network Sales:
Work with our team to drive the sale of satellite ground contacts/minutes to National Security customers. Strategic Captures:
Lead the capture of large-scale government projects, both as a prime contractor and a strategic subcontractor, that align with our core competencies. New Business Creation:
Identify and cultivate opportunities for new, unannounced products and services, effectively building out new lines of business within the federal market.
Identify and qualify a robust pipeline of new business opportunities across all three strategic areas with a focus on large-scale, multi-year contracts. Lead the full business development lifecycle, from opportunity identification and capture planning to proposal development and contract negotiation. Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, influencers, and stakeholders within the DoD, IC, and other relevant government agencies. Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for our national security customers, providing them with a deep understanding of our technology, capabilities, and value proposition. Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, operations, and marketing, to develop winning solutions and proposals. Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings to promote our brand and capabilities. Stay current on industry trends, market dynamics, and the competitive landscape to inform our business development strategy. Required Qualifications:
Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required. Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business-related equivalent. 15+ years of experience in business development, sales, or capture management in the aerospace and defense industry. A proven track record of winning prime contracts with the DoD and/or IC, with a demonstrated history of wins. Extensive network of contacts within the National Security Space community, including the U.S. Space Force, National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), Space Development Agency (SDA), and other relevant agencies. Deep understanding of the government procurement process, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and other relevant regulations. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to travel as needed. Desired Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a technical or business-related field. Direct experience selling satellite ground segment services, SaaS/PaaS solutions, or related technologies. Technical background in satellite communications, RF engineering, or a related field. Experience with proposal development methodologies and tools. Prior military or government service in a relevant field. Salary Range:
$150,000 – $300,000 Location:
Colorado Springs, CO, Denver, CO or Los Angeles, CA preferred (all locations have remote work) $3k annual company contribution to HSA Flexible time off policy Additional Information:
