Software Engineer, Amazon Leo, Lab/Launch Networking
Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low‑latency, high‑speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
Lab/Launch Ops, Infra, and Networking team is responsible for delivering software that runs on custom hardware and helps manage satellite operations on the ground. We are looking for an engineer with experience in device software, TCP communications, system‑level C/C++/Rust programming and foundational AWS cloud services such as IAM, Lambdas, Step functions, and CloudWatch.
Key Job Responsibilities
Design and Implementation of System and Software Architecture for Launch and Test Umbilical Ground Support Equipment
Partner with device software, frontend, networking, and security engineering teams
Scale production implementation to support global deployments
Participate in all phases of software development from requirements through implementation, testing, and operations
Engage with cross‑disciplinary staff to conceive and design solutions and lead efforts from requirements to deployment
Design, integrate, and improve low‑level software on custom hardware and perform low‑level programming activities
Export Control Requirement
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience
3+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling)
3+ years of experience as a software development engineer or related role
3+ years of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, multi‑threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
3+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
