Location: Tukwila, Washington. This position will support the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.
The Boeing KC-46 "Pegasus" is the new US Air Force aerial refueling tanker aircraft. In this role, the individual will lead a team of Software Test engineers in software/hardware integration testing and formal qualification test (FQT) of Aerial Refueling and Mission System Software with a focus on leadership, quality, process improvement, tool improvement and test automation.
Position Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and completion of test and verification of software products to ensure quality, reliability, and functionality.
Partner with stakeholders and lead the review and identification of software requirements, test objectives, test strategies, and testability.
Lead the design of test plans, cases, and scenarios to meet software requirements and specifications.
Advise on the set up and configuration of test environments, including hardware, software, and network configurations to replicate production environments.
Lead executing test cases and scenarios to verify functionality, performance, and safety of software systems, identifying and reporting defects, issues, and potential vulnerabilities found during testing processes.
Advise on test results and feedback on software design and functionality to resolve defects, issues, and potential vulnerabilities.
Lead creating, documenting, and maintaining test plans, procedures, cases, artifacts, metrics, and data in accordance with data privacy and security protocols and standards.
Lead developing and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks to improve efficiency and effectiveness of testing processes.
Lead software project management functions across test and verification activities involving multifunctional teams.
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance, which the U.S. Government requires U.S. citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
5+ years of experience designing test setups, writing test procedures, writing software for control and data acquisition systems, and conducting tests.
5+ years of experience with C, C++, C#, Java, or Ada.
Experience with Linux based operating systems.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
Experience with test requirements from supporting documentation, test plans, internal and external customers.
Experience in domestic and international regulations (e.g., FAA or DOD regulations) on the certification of test articles/vehicles.
Experience with verification, validation, certification and qualification processes and procedures, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements.
Experience with assessing and documenting test or analysis data to show compliance.
Experience with appropriate customer or governmental regulations relevant to design, test, and certification (e.g., DO-178B/C).
Experience with specification format requirements, guidelines, and change control processes.
Experience in various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems.
The ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables.
Experience in deriving and allocating requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
Experience in designing and developing automation of software tests including GUI test automation, executing automated tests, tracking results, managing test data, and utilizing results to improve software quality.
Experience with software practices (e.g., configuration control, change management, problem reporting, software design, peer review, testing, and T&E specific practices), programming languages, operating systems and computing technology applicable to laboratory and flight test systems, including real-time, non-real-time, network-centric, monitoring and control applications.
