What To Expect Tesla Manufacturing Engineers have the important role of designing “The machine that builds the machine.” We work with cross‑functional teams (Design, Quality, Production, Sustaining, and Supply Chain) throughout the entire lifecycle of a product (from initial design through prototype development and into full production) to develop high quality and efficient manufacturing equipment and processes that will produce Tesla’s cutting‑edge power electronics. This role is located at Tesla's factory in Fremont, CA.

What You’ll Do

Develop and procure manufacturing equipment and fixtures for early-stage prototype builds and full-scale production

Collaborate with equipment integrators and suppliers to design, manufacture, and install equipment for medium to high‑volume production

Characterize, validate, and implement new equipment and fixtures on the production floor

Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, including detailed work instructions to train technicians and line operators

Plan production workstation layouts for optimal product flow, ergonomics, and efficiency

Conduct process analysis, DOE, PFMEA, line balancing, and capacity modeling/simulation to improve manufacturing performance

Provide DFM feedback to the design team to enhance manufacturability, process efficiency, and yield

What You’ll Bring

5+ years of experience as a hands‑on mechanical/manufacturing/design engineer working on mechanical and/or electromechanical systems

Experience using 2D CAD tools for conceptual line design (AutoCAD) and 3D design for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling (SolidWorks or CATIA)

Experience with conveyance, transducer‑based fastening systems, robotic systems (Fanuc preferred)

Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment

Experience providing Design for Manufacturability and Automation

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience

Expected Compensation $80,000 – $240,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
