Job Summary
Prepares patients for surgery and procedures utilizing the ASC’s patient selection criteria to assess and care for the patient. Recovers patients after the procedure or surgery. Participates in procedural sedation cases. Knowledge and experience in the care of patients who have received sedation, regional anesthesia and/or general anesthesia. Experience with care of patients emerging from all forms of anesthesia and the risks associated. Experience with Aldrete scoring and discharge criteria. Experience in an ambulatory surgery is essential. The pre‑op and PACU RN works both in pre‑op and post‑operative phase one and two recovery.

Fully On‑Site
Full‑Time, 8‑hour shift, days variable (Monday‑Friday)
Work at all UCSF locations and ambulatory surgery sites including the UCSF Orthopaedic Institute.
Salary Hourly rate: $84.78 – $109.85 (subject to additional approvals based on UC policy). Final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of recent nursing experience recovering patients in an adult Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit or in an adult critical care area (ICU or ED).
Experience with general, regional, and local anesthesia recovery of patients.
Ability to work variable days/shifts including the closing shift.
Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
Preferred Qualifications None.
License / Certification
Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California.
Active American Heart Association CPR Certification.
ACLS.
PALS.
