Senior Building Enclosure Consultant
A respected consultancy in the building enclosure space is seeking an experienced professional to take a senior role within their Detroit practice. This opportunity is well suited to someone with deep technical knowledge of façade, roofing, waterproofing and enclosure systems who wants to lead complex projects and mentor a growing team.
You will guide clients through the investigation, design and delivery of enclosure solutions, ensuring buildings perform reliably and efficiently. The work combines assessment of existing structures, review of new designs and direct involvement during construction. It is ideal for those who enjoy tackling technical challenges and influencing high quality project outcomes.
Responsibilities
Lead enclosure consulting assignments across a range of building types
Serve as a primary client contact, ensuring strong technical and commercial delivery
Review design documents and oversee project work completed by junior staff
Mentor and develop team members on technical practice and project management
Assess existing buildings, diagnose enclosure issues and develop repair strategies
Draft reports that outline findings, methodologies and recommended solutions
Attend design, preconstruction and construction meetings to provide technical input
Carry out site visits and construction observations, including work at height when required
Contribute to business development by supporting proposals and building client relationships
Qualifications
Degree or technical qualification in engineering, architecture, construction management or a related field
5 - 10 years of experience in enclosure design, construction or consulting
Strong communication skills in both written and verbal formats
Proven project leadership experience, including budgeting, scheduling and team coordination
Detailed understanding of building assemblies and enclosure performance
Demonstrated ability in business development and client relationship management
This role suits someone who is motivated, detail focused and comfortable working both independently and within a collaborative team. It requires willingness to travel 1 to 2 days per week and to conduct site work on swing stages or at height.
