Utica Park Clinic, founded in 1982, is a multi‑specialty medical group with more than 300 employed physicians and advanced practice providers representing over 25 specialties across 80 plus clinics in Oklahoma.
Learn About a Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant The Medical Assistant provides superior patient care and performs administrative and delegated clinical tasks that support patients in a clinic‑based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider.
Responsibilities
Enter, maintain, and report all medical history, medical coding, and file claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Provide patient visit support that may include greeting patients, escorting patients to exam room, taking patients’ vital signs, and collecting other applicable medical information to effectively support the reason for the patient’s visit and recommended treatment.
Sterilize and prepare medical instruments. Ensure patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients. Provide patients with privacy, comfort, safety, and hygiene.
Assist in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments, and equipment for all exam rooms.
Maintain appropriate paperwork for inventory control and review orders received for completeness.
Address and request referrals and other insurance authorizations, and passage of patient information for prescription, X‑ray, or lab requisitions to necessary parties. This includes calls to pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.
Qualifications Job Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge.
BLS Certification required within 14 days of start.
Preferred Job Requirements
Associate’s degree.
Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program or three years of MA experience.
Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
