Overview
Veeco is hiring a Manufacturing Technician with primary responsibilities to participate in the assembling of newly manufactured Advanced Packaging systems and subsystems on the manufacturing floor.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate safe work practices including electrical safety, safe lifting techniques, and maintaining a clean, safe work area
Following work instructions, integrate subassemblies and components into the build of complex systems to prepare for functional testing
Read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
Use precision measurement tools including torque wrenches, DMMs, height standards, precision measurement tools, levels, and unique electronic data gathering tools as prescribed in work instructions
Disassemble and pack systems in preparation for shipment and delivery to customers
Write daily pass downs and store build data as directed
Perform basic troubleshooting and assist Manufacturing Engineers to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues
Identify improvement opportunities for safety, manufacturing processes, or 6S as they arise
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Candidates must have 2 to 4 years of hands‑on experience in assembly and troubleshooting complex systems. An Associate’s degree in technical engineering OR a background in Technical Field Service is preferred.
Ability to work second shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of hardware, software, and control systems
Experience with manufacturing is preferred
Experience with MS Word and Excell preferred
Aptitude for identifying and resolving recurring problems
Good interpersonal and communication skills to interface with assembly technicians, engineering, management, customers, sales, and marketing
Willingness to work overtime, holidays and weekends as required to meet company revenue requirements
Physical Job Requirements
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
Needs to be able to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing
Must be able to use standard hand tools and standard office equipment
Salary and Benefits
The expected hourly pay range for this position is $22.99 — $29.12 per hour, plus a bonus opportunity.
