Responsibilities

Design and develop engaging, web and mobile‑first user interfaces optimized for performance, accessibility, and user experience across diverse devices and platforms.

Implement, test, and deploy high‑quality web and mobile applications, integrating AI‑powered or data‑driven components (e.g., intelligent search, personalization, or automation) where appropriate.

Build self‑contained, reusable, and testable modules to support scalability, maintainability, and efficient collaboration within cross‑functional development teams.

Collaborate with stakeholders—including colleagues, project managers, and end users—to review business requirements, analyze workflows, and propose innovative, AI‑augmented solutions.

Develop interactive wireframes, prototypes, and detailed design documentation, leveraging AI‑assisted design tools to accelerate and enhance the creative process.

Ensure timely, reliable, and high‑quality delivery of all project deliverables while continuously improving performance through automation, analytics, and feedback loops.

The Senior Web and Mobile Software Developer will work within the Central IT department to design, develop, and maintain advanced web and mobile applications, integrating modern AI‑driven capabilities where applicable. This role requires close collaboration with business users to gather and analyze requirements, translating them into effective system and AI‑enhanced design solutions.

The developer will create interactive wireframes, mockups, and prototypes with a focus on intuitive design and accessibility, incorporating AI‑assisted UX tools when appropriate. After user review and approval, the developer will collaborate with back‑end developers and data teams to define, design implement secure and scalable API services.

This position also involves working as part of a cross‑functional team of developers, researchers, data scientists, and system/database administrators to integrate AI‑powered features such as predictive analytics, natural language interfaces, intelligent automation, and personalization into both existing and new web and mobile solutions.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $132,000 - $197,900 (Annual Rate).
