Engineering Manager, Developer Platform
Engineering Manager responsible for building and scaling the developer platform (REST APIs, Agent SDKs, MCP, and agent tools) that powers Notion’s ecosystem of builders, developers, and enterprise customers.
Overview Notion helps teams build beautiful tools for their work. Our developer platform enables hobbyist developers to build AI agents and Fortune‑500 companies to deploy enterprise integrations. As AI tools expand, we need a leader to scale APIs and platform capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Recruit, grow, and manage a diverse, inclusive team of engineers working on Notion’s public API, MCP, and related developer products.
Plan and prioritize engineering work, staffing, and sequencing, while maintaining a high quality bar for all releases.
Collaborate closely with cross‑functional peers in Business Development, Marketing, Partnerships, Support, and Sales to shape platform strategy, support, and feature roll‑outs for enterprise customers, third‑party developers, and integration partners.
Drive the evolution of Notion’s engineering organization—technical practices, recruiting, onboarding, planning, and prioritization processes.

Managed engineering teams with a proven track record of shipping high‑quality, public‑facing APIs and developer tools.
Built or committed to building diverse and inclusive teams.
Created collaborative, empowering, supportive, and challenging team environments.
Deep background in product and technology, enabling you to ask the right questions, balance product, tech, and people concerns, and make hard trade‑offs.
High tolerance for ambiguity and change, especially around organizational structure and role boundaries, and enjoy learning as‑you‑go.
Value empathetic, direct communication, especially around giving and receiving feedback.
Nice to Haves
Managed engineering teams at startups during rapid growth and organizational change.
Managed geographically distributed teams (NY and SF).
Familiarity with computing pioneers such as Ada Lovelace, Douglas Engelbart, Alan Kay, and the impact of their work on modern technology.
Compensation & Benefits Notion is committed to providing highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. Compensation for this role depends on location, scope, complexity, and experience. For San Francisco, the estimated base salary range is $247,000 – $335,000 per year.
