Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a part‑time anesthesiologist to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem. Harlem Hospital is the largest hospital in Central Harlem and the only safety‑net hospital in Northern Manhattan. Harlem Hospital is recognized for centers of excellence in bariatric surgery, breast imaging and sexual assault forensics, and continues to provide outstanding care to all New Yorkers.
The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons to uphold high healthcare delivery standards.
Opportunity Details
Growing practice with ample leadership opportunities
No cardiac surgery or transplant cases; occasional pediatric cases (ages 2+)
Team includes fellowship‑trained colleagues in OB anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, pain management, critical care, and cardiothoracic anesthesia
OR volume: approximately 300–360 cases per month
OB volume:
Off‑site anesthesia locations include MRI, interventional radiology, and an endoscopy/bronchoscopy suite (co‑located with main ORs)
Six main operating rooms; no office‑based anesthesia or freestanding ambulatory facility
Supported by three dedicated biomedical equipment technicians
Some solo cases; CRNA supervision model with a 1:2 ratio (all CRNAs supervised)
Qualifications
A license to practice medicine in the State of New York
Experience in block placement in upper and lower extremities preferred but not required
Board eligible or certified in anesthesiology
Wages and Benefits Annual base salary:
$221,025* (board eligible) ;
$226,275* (board certified)
based on a 21‑hour work week. Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per‑diem hours.
The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated between
$386,128** (board eligible)
and
$373,903** (board certified) , which includes the baseline salary, fringe benefits, sessional/per‑diem hours, and other factors as set forth below.
Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per‑diem hours worked per week is $104,000***.
Projected bonus of up to $21,000 (based on previous year’s average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
401(k) company contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
Annual continuing medical education (CME) reimbursement.
Generous annual paid time off (PTO): vacation, sick, holiday, and CME days.
