Purpose of the Position Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Site Medical Director provides clinical care, as well as site leadership, and guides the professional practice of their Health Center. The Site Medical Director embodies the mission of OCHS, serving as a key member of the Leadership Team. The incumbent will supervise and mentor providers, meet regularly with the CMO, participate in organizational initiatives, and communicate organizational direction and policy. With the Health Center’s Leadership team, the Site Medical Director is responsible for delivery of high quality, efficient, and patient‑centered care for the patients and communities served by the Health Center.

Essential Functions Clinical Duties

Provide comprehensive and continuing care to patients through diagnosis and treatment at Health Centers or other OCHS locations, referring as appropriate.

Lead a clinic team to manage panel of patients, ensuring regular communication regarding the population managed.

Supervise and collaborate with health‑care professionals (NPs, PAs, RN, MA, allied staff) to ensure proper delivery of medical care.

Keep accurate, complete, legible medical records as required by law and OCHS policies.

Participate in patient care audits for quality assurance and utilization review.

Contribute to staff performance reviews, hiring decisions, and disciplinary issues.

Participate in on‑call schedule, including weekend shifts as needed.

Maintain knowledge of developments in specialty, including Board Certification and CME requirements.

Maintain positive relationships with other physicians, health‑care professionals, and OCHS staff.

Participate in regular clinical practitioner and staff meetings.

Perform other related duties as reasonably required or assigned.

Ensure outside activities do not interfere with duties hereunder.

Administrative Duties: Supervision and Mentoring of Clinical Practitioners

Ensure provision of high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centered medical care.

Work with the CMO to establish and implement clinical standards and policies consistent with organizational goals.

Ensure education regarding compliance of clinical staff.

Provide ongoing orientation and evaluation program for practitioners.

Direct, supervise, and evaluate work of clinical staff, providing feedback for performance improvement.

Participate in interviews, reference reviews, and recommendations for potential practitioners.

Work with the CMO and Medical Staff Coordinator on credentialing and medical staff files.

Maintain familiarity with medicolegal and ethical issues related to practice.

Ensure appropriate training to use IT resources; monitor coding and documentation compliance.

Review significant patient concerns or complaints related to clinical care.

Financial

Provide budget feedback related to practitioner performance.

Collaborate with Health Center Directors to set visit targets.

Review practitioner performance toward meeting targets.

Quality and Performance Improvement

Review quality and performance reports with clinical practitioners and provide input for improvement plans.

Clinical Operations

Support a team‑based, patient‑centered model of care that promotes multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment.

Collaborate with Site Leadership to develop clinical schedules.

Ensure the Health Center is appropriately staffed by suitable clinicians.

Work with the CMO to develop after‑hours and weekend call schedules.

Executive

Report regularly to the CMO on medical staff activities and performance.

Meet regularly with Health Center Leadership Team.

Participate in organizational operation and clinical leadership meetings.

External Relations / ACO Development

Represent OCHS clinically within the communities served by the Health Center.

Represent OCHS at local, regional, and national conferences.

Participate in fundraising activities.

Serve on community boards to promote public health initiatives.

Participate in activities sponsored by the Massachusetts League of Community Health Center.

Academic Affiliations

Work with the CMO to ensure teaching obligations are met and coverage schedules are developed.

Ensure all trainees receive valued experience at OCHS.

Non‑Essential Functions

Attend periodic staff meetings.

Adhere to OCHS policies.

Adhere to OCHS values and principles.

Qualifications

M.D. or D.O., board certification or eligibility in an appropriate specialty, and a current medical license in Massachusetts.

CPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Valid and unlimited license to practice medicine in Massachusetts.

DAWN number and any other required state public health certifications for prescribing privileges.

Acceptance of assignment under Medicare and Medicaid, and qualified provider status with third‑party payers.

No exclusion under state or federal authorities from Medicare, Medicaid, or any federal/private payer.

Maintain privileges as a member in good standing of the Medical/Professional staff.

Additional training or experience in health‑care leadership.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and computer skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication; bilingual helpful.

Proficiency in EPIC, Outlook, Microsoft Office, OneDrive, etc.

Excellent judgment and problem‑solving ability.

Adherence to strict confidentiality standards.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member.

Ability to work in a culturally diverse and inclusive environment.

Physical Requirements This is a sedentary job by nature but can be physical on occasion and must be able to travel throughout the area by personal vehicle. Requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time and using computers and a phone.

Internal and External Contacts

Interfaces regularly with employees and patients in person, on the phone, and through email.
