Position Overview The Colorado Avalanche is seeking an innovative and visionary Executive Creative Director to lead our creative team and shape the visual direction of the organization. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all creative initiatives, ensuring cohesive brand identity, and elevating the fan experience through compelling content, branding, and design. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of strategic leadership in sports, entertainment, or media industries, with a passion for hockey and sports branding.
Key Responsibilities
Provide overarching creative vision for all team‑related content, branding, marketing campaigns, in‑arena experiences, and digital media.
Lead, inspire, and manage a diverse team of designers and motion graphics artists to produce innovative and high‑quality creative work.
Establish and maintain creative standards, brand guidelines, and storytelling strategies that reflect the organization’s values and vision.
Guide the development of visual identity assets, including logos and look‑and‑feel.
Oversee all stages of creative development, from conceptualization through execution and delivery, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative visual storytelling techniques to keep the organization’s creative output fresh and competitive.
Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the creative team.
Present concepts, campaign proposals, and final creative work to internal stakeholders, senior leadership, and partners.
Manage the creative budget and allocate resources effectively across projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Advertising, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
10+ years of experience in creative leadership roles within sports, entertainment, or media organizations.
Proven ability to lead and inspire creative teams, with a compelling portfolio demonstrating innovative visual storytelling.
Strong understanding of branding, digital media, motion graphics, and marketing strategy.
Exceptional communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
Strategic thinker with a passion for sports and fan engagement.
Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and operate effectively under pressure.
