Role Overview As a Lieutenant with the Federal Reserve Law Enforcement, you’ll lead a team of Federal Law Enforcement Officers protecting one of America's most vital financial institutions. This isn’t just a law enforcement position – it’s an opportunity to serve as both frontline defenders of our five locations and respected ambassadors in the communities we serve. Core Responsibilities Leadership & Operations Management
Supervise shift operations including planning, scheduling, and coordinating special events
Lead roll call meetings, prepare shift reports, and ensure effective communication
Identify and implement operational improvements
Serve as a role model, fostering teamwork and positive workplace morale
Officer Development
Mentor and develop your team through coaching, training, and performance feedback
Create development plans that support succession planning
Participate in recruitment and help new officers integrate successfully
Security Expertise
Direct responses to sensitive situations using sound judgment and appropriate tactics
Ensure proper monitoring and maintenance of security systems and equipment
Coordinate with other departments and outside agencies as a law enforcement liaison
Apply your experience to handle complex security scenarios
Qualifications
3+ years of related experience and 1+ year of leading teams
Firearms qualification and law enforcement training that meets Federal Reserve System standards
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead teams and manage conflicts
Ability to make sound decisions in high‑pressure situations
Excellent organizational skills for managing schedules, projects, and operations
Technical proficiency with security systems and standard office applications
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of experience as a Sergeant or in an equivalent supervisory role within law enforcement
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration or related field preferred, or equivalent experience in law enforcement
Selection Process Candidates undergo a comprehensive evaluation including:
Fitness‑for‑duty physical examination
Psychological assessment
Detailed background investigation
Drug screening
Must pass the six‑week Basic Law Enforcement course at one of our Federal Reserve Banks and complete Field Training after graduation
Compensation & Benefits Base Salary Range: $109,600 – $126,900 (Location: San Francisco). Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographic and other market data.
