Overview We are seeking an innovative and results-driven Director of Software Engineering to lead the tax content and tooling team within the Consumer Group (CG). This is a high-priority, high-impact role focused on transforming a foundational part of our TurboTax (TT) franchise. You will be tasked with reimagining the tax content space which is critical to TurboTax experience, to ensure its future viability and competitive edge. This role requires an extraordinary ability to drive change management, foster a culture of accountability, and deliver with operational excellence.
Responsibilities What You'll Do
As a key member of our engineering leadership, you will shape the technical strategy and execution of the tax knowledge, content and tooling engineering org. You will lead, develop, and inspire a talented organization of 400+ contributors across engineering and tax content.
Own and define a bold, new technology strategy to transform the tax content and tooling domain
Lead the effort to modernize a process, transitioning it into a more efficient, automated, and scalable system
Drive significant organizational and technical change, ensuring the team is an active and engaged part of the transformation journey
Identify opportunities to introduce new technologies, including AI, to disrupt the tax content space and maintain our market leadership
Collaborate with key stakeholders and senior leaders, including those in the assisted category (DIWM) and TT Canada Experience, to prioritize roadmaps and deliver game-changing capabilities
Instill a culture of elite execution and fierce accountability within the engineering team
Accelerate dev velocity with AI leverage and innovative engineering processes
Set clear objectives and goals, using data‑driven processes and operating mechanisms to continually track progress and improve outcomes
Demonstrate extreme attention to detail and strong operational savvy to improve delivery metrics and ensure a relentless focus on engineering excellence
Be able to operate in a fast‑moving environment, making quick, data‑driven decisions that are backed by customer needs
Lead and develop a diverse, high‑performing organization of engineers
Act as a talent steward, attracting, nurturing, and retaining senior talent, including engineers and architects
Build a positive engineering culture within the team and across organizations
Navigate the challenges of leading change by bringing people along on the journey and effectively handling pushback from various stakeholders
Qualifications
A minimum of 10+ years of hands‑on development experience and a minimum of 5 years as a manager of managers, leading large engineering teams
Proven success in building, motivating, and retaining high‑performing engineering teams
Demonstrated ability to drive significant organizational and technological transformations with exceptional change‑management skills
Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and experience in delivering SaaS and database technologies at scale
Exceptional business acumen and strategic thinking, with the ability to identify opportunities and think across a complex ecosystem of products and services
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective partnerships and influence stakeholders at all levels, from front‑line engineers to executive leadership
Experience with a leading public cloud provider (AWS, Google, Azure) is a plus
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, CE, or EE is required, and an advanced degree is preferred

Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. To drive ongoing fair pay for employees, Intuit conducts regular comparisons across categories of ethnicity and gender. The expected base pay range for this position is: 278,500.00 - 377,000.00
