Overview Cogent Biosciences is a publicly traded biotechnology company dedicated to developing precision therapies for genetically defined diseases. Bezuclastinib is evaluated in multiple registration-directed trials; in July 2025 the SUMMIT trial in NonAdvSM achieved statistical significance across all primary and key secondary endpoints, and the company is on track to file its first New Drug Application for this patient population by the end of 2025. Cogent also tracks trials for AdvSM and GIST and is developing a portfolio of novel therapies targeting other serious diseases.

The Role This position reports to the Vice President of Marketing and offers an extraordinary opportunity to lead the launch of Bezuclastinib in the 2L GIST indication. The Senior Director will develop brand strategy, oversee HCP marketing, and coordinate cross‑functional teams to deliver measurable business and product outcomes. Responsibilities include strategy development, tactical planning, budget management, agency coordination, and performance measurement with executive leadership.
Responsibilities
Internal marketing leader and subject‑matter expert in GIST.
Develop HCP strategic plans and promotion initiatives with measurable outcomes.
Create tactical plans to execute marketing strategies.
Collaborate with field sales enzymes for strategy execution.
Oversee HCP marketing efforts and their execution.
Implement segmented channel marketing capabilities and collaborate with key stakeholders.
Monitor and analyze marketing trends, technologies, and innovations.
Work cross‑functionally to develop and evolve marketing ideas, ensuring regulatory compliance.
Demonstrate agility and flexibility in a nimble, entrepreneurial environment.
Develop strategies for multiple audiences (KOL Oncology, community oncologists, oncology nurses).
Manage budget/resourcing plans and track financial spending.
Establish and communicate KPIs to internal staff and external partners.
Identify external partners and negotiate contracts where appropriate.
Manage Agency of Record and vendor relationships for best ROI.
Provide campaign analysis and marketing mix insights; disseminate best practices.
Coordinate agencies, vendors, and internal departments including marketing, analytics, operations, legal, regulatory, medical affairs, compliance, and IT.
Provide leadership with sales and training teams for effective promotional tools and program training.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
US oncology marketing & launch experience and deep understanding of the therapeutic landscape.
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Pharma/Biotech marketing, sales, or business development.
Confidence and comfort working with executive leadership.
Sales experience a plus.
5 years of brand management with recent in‑depth experience in brand leadership and U.S. commercialization.
Strong engagement with KOLs and capability for scientific discussion.
Experience leading teams.
Recent rare‑disease and/or oncology launch experience strongly preferred.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
Outstanding project management, vendor, and agency management skills.
Experience with regulatory, legal, and medical approvals for promotional materials.
Significant budget management experience.
Up to 25% travel required.
Location: Waltham, MA (surrounding areas) required.
Salary Range $250,000 – $290,000 USD. Target bonus: 25% of base.
Locations
Waltham, MA – Boston‑area office with open layout, parking and gym facilities.
Boulder, CO – New state‑of‑the‑art research facility; CEO based here.
