Job Purpose The SBA Underwriter provides accurate credit analysis, risk assessment and determines the creditworthiness of SBA 7(a) loan Applicants.

Duties and Responsibilities Knowledge of SBA SOP Underwriting SBA loans in accordance with the Banks policies and procedures Attend and participate in vetting and credit approval discussions Work with BDOs and Management to perform and document the Banks formal credit analysis for new loan requests

this includes credit memo creation, financial spreads, cash flow statements, collateral analysis, global cash flow analysis, support of strengths, mitigation of weaknesses, and eligibility of new and existing credit facilities Be capable of maintaining a mixed portfolio of underwriting new loans, servicing and review requests Request required documentation, financials, etc. from the borrower and guarantors as needed Provide positive and constructive communication to all parties involved in transactions Deliver excellent service to customers both inside and outside the Bank Attend appropriate training to build and maintain expert credit and SBA specific knowledge Other duties as assigned

Qualifications Minimum Bachelors degree Thorough knowledge of SBA lending rules, regulations, and practices 3 years of SBA 7(a) loan underwriting experience Word and Excel proficiency required Excellent interpersonal and written skills Verbal and written communication and presentation skills Participate and complete all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc.

Preferred 5+ years of SBA 7a loan underwriting experience Advanced Excel proficiency Formal credit training Ability to underwrite and handle a large volume of loans

Working Conditions The typical schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Overtime or extended hours may be occasionally required. Work may be in office or hybrid (determined by hiring manager). The employee frequently exchanges information with others and must be able to do so in an effective manner. Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, and across a variety of audiences. The employee is frequently required to operate a computer, printer, copy machine, calculator, telephone, and/or other office equipment. The employee may frequently move items up to 20 pounds and occasionally move items up to 40 pounds. The employee may frequently reach for files, books, and comparable items in high or low places and must have the ability to bend, stoop, or reach. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
