Role / Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented associate to join our finance team in New York. This position will be pivotal in establishing, implementing and supporting critical functions associated with vendor onboarding and management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and reporting. The role will initially involve a heavy focus on systems implementation and other finance transformation initiatives. Over time, this role will be integrated with team members providing support to other areas of Nearwaters business of providing specialty finance solutions to sophisticated financial services and other companies.

Key Responsibilities: Vendor Management & Reconciliation: Establish and maintain accurate vendor records and ensure compliance with payment terms. Reconcile vendor statements with finance systems; resolve discrepancies. Handle vendor queries and maintain strong relationships with suppliers. Reconcile accounts payable transactions and assist in month-end closing. Reporting & Controls: Assist in preparing AP aging reports and cash forecasts. Support month-end close activities by ensuring entries are posted timely. Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and audit requirements. Participate in budgeting process Invoice & Payment Processing Review, verify, and process vendor invoices. Verifies new vendor bank details prior to payment. Prepare and process payments according to terms and company policy. Ensure proper coding of expenses to the correct GL accounts. KPIs and Management Reporting: Define and track key performance indicators. Work with senior management to develop decision useful dashboards and other reports for strategic decision-making. Provide monthly reporting of key performance indicators Prepare consolidated expense summaries and forecasts for senior leadership. Other Ad Hoc Reporting: Provide timely, data-driven insights for special projects and leadership requests. Systems Implementation and Finance Transformation Participate in implementation of accounts payable systems and automated workflow Work with other members of the finance department to automate existing processes and controls for accounts receivable/payable activities

Skills and Experience: Education: Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. Experience: 2+ years in accounts payable or receivable role is preferred. Technical Skills: Strong Microsoft Office suite skills, particularly Excel are required. Experience with AP/AR automated solutions/workflow tools, including implementation experience is a significant plus Experience with data visualization/dashboarding tools (eg. Power BI, Tableau) is a plus. Other Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to think independently and develop solutions. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment. Sleeves up mentality and not afraid to take on unfamiliar situations.
