A leading global trading organization is seeking a Product Controller to join its New York office and support trading activities in the Americas region. This is a high-impact role offering direct exposure to traders and operators in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Role The Product Controller will act as the primary control function in the New York office, working closely with traders and coordinating with global risk teams. About 80% of the role focuses on product control tasks, including daily P&L validation, exposure reporting, and mark-to-market valuations. Over time, responsibilities will expand to include hedging strategies and secondary support for credit risk, market risk, compliance, and IT.
Key Responsibilities Validate and explain daily P&L for physical and derivative positions Review and reconcile exposure reports to ensure accuracy Apply and validate forward curves, spreads, and pricing benchmarks Communicate key P&L drivers to traders and management Support month-end exposure and P&L consolidation Drive improvements in reporting tools and automation
Requirements 3-7 years of experience in Product Control, Market Risk, or Middle Office within commodity trading Strong understanding of physical trading (oil preferred; metals or inventory experience also valuable) Proficiency in P&L attribution, exposure management, and valuation techniques Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; ETRM experience a plus
