Job description Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Portfolio Manager to join our dynamic team at Northwestern Mutual in Midtown East Manhattan. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial management and investment strategies, with a proven ability to manage diverse portfolios effectively. This role requires a deep understanding of financial concepts, risk management, and relationship management to ensure optimal performance of client investments.

Key Responsibilities: Financial Planning & Investment Execution Monitor daily cash flows and execute trades (NetX360, Envestnet). Build and maintain financial and retirement plans using proprietary tools. Conduct investment research on mutual funds, ETFs, equities, and bonds. Prepare pre-meeting reports: retirement cash flow models, recommendations, and follow-up notes. Perform risk, performance, and fee analyses via Morningstar. Manage and oversee investment portfolios, ensuring alignment with client objectives and risk tolerance. Conduct thorough credit analysis and financial analysis to assess investment opportunities. Develop and implement investment strategies that incorporate private equity, asset management, and cash management principles. Perform risk analysis to identify potential risks associated with investment decisions and implement appropriate risk management strategies. Utilize financial software and tools, including Bloomberg, for portfolio tracking and reporting. Collaborate with clients to understand their financial goals and provide tailored wealth management solutions. Stay informed about market trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes affecting the financial services industry. Prepare detailed reports on portfolio performance and present findings to stakeholders. Engage in research to identify new investment opportunities that align with client interests. Maintain strong relationships with clients through effective communication and exceptional service.

Client Relationship Management: Serve as primary contact for client service needs; deliver concierge-level support. Manage and track Roth conversions, RMDs, tax loss harvesting. Schedule and prepare for quarterly client reviews; maintain accurate CRM records. Respond to client inquiries about portfolio performance and service documents.

Administrative & Team Operations Maintain advisor calendars and ensure timely client appointments. Coordinate document preparation and processing, including annuities and asset transfers. Organize marketing materials and support general office management.

Qualifications Series 7 license

Required Minimum 5 year experience in securities or financial services Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and investment CRM tools Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Experience : Proven experience in portfolio management, investment banking, or asset management is essential. Strong knowledge of financial services, including tax experience, technical accounting, wills, trusts, & estate law is highly desirable Demonstrated ability in sales and relationship management within the financial sector. Proficient in math skills necessary for financial analysis and investment decision-making. Familiarity with underwriting processes and principles of financial planning is a plus. Excellent analytical skills combined with a strong financial acumen to make informed decisions.
