Position Summary:
The Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for generating mortgage loan business through external sources such as real estate agents, builders, financial planners, and past clients. This role involves originating residential mortgage loans, guiding clients through the loan process, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be client-focused, detail-oriented, and driven to meet and exceed loan production goals.
This is a commission plus bonus position.
Key Responsibilities:
Originate and process residential mortgage loan applications in compliance with company policies and federal/state regulations. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, referral sources, and real estate professionals to generate leads and build a pipeline of business. Interview prospective borrowers to understand financial needs and recommend appropriate mortgage products. Collect and analyze applicant financial information, including income, assets, debts, and credit history, to determine loan eligibility. Collaborate with underwriters, processors, and other internal teams to ensure timely and accurate processing and closing of loans. Provide outstanding customer service throughout the loan process, responding to inquiries and resolving issues promptly. Stay current on lending products, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., RESPA, TILA, HMDA). Maintain accurate records and submit required reports on loan origination activity. Achieve individual sales goals and contribute to overall team performance.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in finance, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted. Minimum of 2 years experience in mortgage loan origination. Valid NMLS registration and state Mortgage Loan Originator license(s) required. Proven track record of successful loan origination and sales performance. Strong knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loan programs. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. High level of integrity, professionalism, and customer service orientation. Proficient in loan origination systems (e.g., Encompass, Calyx) and Microsoft Office Suite.
