Job overview:
The FP&A Manager plays a key role in overseeing all financial planning, analysis and sales controlling activities, including budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and managerial reporting. This role partners closely with Operations and Sales leadership to provide financial insights that drive profitability and operational efficiency. This individual ensures the delivery of accurate and timely financial information, enabling sound decision-making through both historical performance analysis and forward-looking forecasting. This position is a critical member of the Finance & Administration team and works closely with the Controller and accounting function to ensure the integrity of financial records, adherence to company policies, and alignment with overall strategic goals.
Leadership tasks:
The FP&A Manager leads resources dedicated to Cost Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Sales Controlling, ensuring alignment with company goals and supporting a culture of continuous improvement. This role acts as a financial business partner to Operations and Sales, providing strategic insights and ensuring financial transparency across departments. This individual will oversee two direct reports.
Overall Responsibilities: Manage cost accounting and FP&A operations, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and managerial reporting. Develop and maintain cost accounting systems to monitor and analyze the Swedesboro plants industrial performance and company-wide cost structure. Partner with the Planning and Performance Control (PPC) team to ensure inventory and manufacturing process accuracy. Monitor plant and corporate financial performance, identify areas of improvement, and recommend actionable solutions. Collaborate with department heads to develop budgets and monitor financial targets. Prepare and present reports and forecasts to senior management, highlighting trends, performance drivers, and risks. Ensure compliance with Group accounting policies and procedures. Manage and mentor a team of financial analysts and cost accounting professionals. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. Responsibilities may evolve based on business needs; the employee is expected to remain agile and perform other duties as assigned by management to support the success of the organization.
Key Activities: Financial Planning & Analysis Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes, including financial modeling and scenario planning. Analyze company performance across revenue, expenses, and profitability metrics. Provide financial insights to support strategic decisions on pricing, investments, and product development. Prepare financial presentations for both plant and senior management. Conduct ad hoc financial analyses to assess business risks and opportunities. Define, track, and report KPIs and financial metrics to measure performance. Maintain financial planning systems to ensure data accuracy and timeliness. Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, operations, and marketing to support new initiatives and product launches. Supporting Sales on pricing initiatives, analyzing and calculating ROI on trade programs and promotions. Taking an active role in Trade Promotion planning. Performing ongoing analysis of actual trade deductions vs. committed promotion funds. Calculating and monitoring item profitability to ensure strong margin performance across product portfolio. Analyzing Sales and Marketing activities to ensure adherence to budget while maintaining strong partnership with Sales and Marketing counterparts.
Sales Controlling Support Sales on pricing initiatives, analyzing and calculating ROI on trade programs and promotions. Take an active role in Trade Promotion planning, performing ongoing analysis of actual trade deductions vs. committed promotion funds. Calculate and monitor item profitability to ensure strong margin performance across the product portfolio. Develop and maintain sales performance dashboards and reports to monitor key commercial KPIs. Partner with Sales and Marketing to ensure adherence to budgets while supporting revenue growth and brand objectives. Analyze customer and channel profitability, identifying opportunities for improvement. Provide recommendations for pricing strategies, discount structures, and customer incentive programs to enhance profitability. Cost Accounting Maintain accurate product costing systems in collaboration with Operations and Group Finance. Analyze product costs, pricing strategies, and margins to identify cost optimization opportunities. Conduct cost audits and variance analyses to ensure accuracy and compliance. Partner with production to develop cost-reduction initiatives and operational improvements. Manage costing processes, including updates to cost rates, labor rates, and overhead allocations. Analyze inventory levels (raw materials, WIP, finished goods) and provide cost-of-goods-sold and margin reports. Support pricing strategies for new products and customers. Deliver regular cost accounting reports on inventory, consumption, turnover, and gross margin performance. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Masters degree or CPA/CMA preferred). 3-5 years of progressive experience in financial planning, analysis, and cost accounting and/or sales controllingpreferably within a manufacturing environment. Strong analytical, modeling, and problem-solving skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP and financial reporting systems (e.g., SAP, Power BI, or similar). Demonstrated ability to interpret complex data and communicate insights effectively to non-financial stakeholders. Proven leadership and people development skills. Strong business acumen, with the ability to balance detail orientation and strategic perspective.
