The Credit Risk team is responsible for managing the organization's credit exposure to trading and lending counterparties. Leveraging expertise in financial, credit, and risk analysis, the team ensures that credit exposure is managed within the firm's risk appetite. Staffed with hundreds of professionals across multiple global offices, credit professionals work closely with many areas of the organization. This structure provides diverse financial experience and a broad perspective on how the entire firm operates. Interaction with numerous departments and varied projects creates a challenging, multi-dimensional work environment.
Job Responsibilities
Assess the credit and financial strength of Financial Institution counterparts through fundamental credit analysis of quantitative and qualitative factors
Determine and manage credit risk appetite across derivatives, loans, funding, and deposits for a portfolio of Financial Institution counterparts
Approve derivative and funding transactions while ensuring appropriate documentation and risk mitigants
Perform credit underwriting of lending transactions and contribute recommendations to the capital committee approval process
Recommend and defend internal and regulatory risk ratings for counterparts/transactions
Oversee or perform counterparty research reviews and analysis
Present findings and recommendations to senior management and respond to related inquiries
Proactively monitor and assess counterparts and industry subsectors based on market indicators, regulatory guidance, rating agency commentary, and surveillance
Basic Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience covering Financial Institutions in credit risk management, fixed income research, or similar roles
In-depth knowledge of banks, broker-dealers, finance companies, insurers, and related entities
Familiarity with derivatives, funding, lending products, and associated documentation (e.g., ISDA/CSA, credit agreements)
Understanding of regulatory risk rating requirements
Experience leading due diligence discussions with senior management teams
Strong decision-making skills and ability to influence negotiations
Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills
Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team and supervise junior members
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field
