Description Director of Annual Giving and Strategic Communications Work Schedule:

Full-time, exempt (salary), Generally scheduled up to 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with occasional weekend and evening work as needed Remote/in-office flexibility available; details to be customized with the selected candidate. Reports to:

Chief Advancement Officer MISSION: “Our mission is to inspire and empower the youth of Monterey County to realize their full potential to become responsible, healthy, productive, and successful citizens.” DESCRIPTION: The Director of Annual Giving and Strategic Communications is a dynamic and versatile communications leader responsible for driving donor engagement, overseeing all organizational communications, and sustaining philanthropic support through mid-level annual and leadership giving programs. This position blends strategic fundraising with comprehensive brand and communications oversight, ensuring every message reflects the heart of BGCMC’s mission and the potential of the youth we serve. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Director will lead multi-channel fundraising efforts, steward meaningful donor relationships, and manage communications strategies across digital and print platforms. This role requires a thoughtful balance of creativity and analytics, high-level collaboration, and the ability to craft and execute compelling storytelling that moves people to action. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker and a mission-driven communicator—someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, excels at building relationships, and consistently delivers polished, purpose-driven content that amplifies the impact of BGCMC. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Director will: Drive annual and leadership giving by designing and managing a donor-centered program for supporters giving $100–$9,999, with personalized strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts that build lasting relationships. Grow the monthly giving program and other recurring gift opportunities through creative, values-based engagement strategies designed to deepen commitment and loyalty. Collaborate across departments to support integrated fundraising campaigns, donor events, and recognition efforts that reflect the heart and mission of BGCMC. Lead all organizational communications and digital fundraising efforts, including content development for the website, social media, email, text, newsletters, letters, peer-to-peer campaigns, and giving days. Oversee the full creative process—from concept to production—of print and digital materials that elevate the Club’s mission and inspire connection and support. Develop segmented donor journeys aligned with BGCMC’s mission and strategic goals, using data and analytics to personalize messaging, increase engagement, and strengthen donor retention across all giving levels. Oversee the Club’s marketing and communications strategy, ensuring brand consistency and compelling storytelling across every platform. Creatively contribute and collaborate with staff and vendors to produce mission-aligned content, including photography, design, and recognition materials. Manage an editorial calendar to coordinate storytelling and outreach campaigns with organizational priorities, elevating the voices and dreams of Club youth and their families. Implement and refine stewardship systems that deliver meaningful, timely impact communications and ensure every donor feels seen, valued, and connected to the change they help create. Serve as a visible ambassador for the Club, representing BGCMC at community events and donor gatherings with passion, professionalism, and a deep belief in the potential of every young person. Requirements QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising and full-scope communications leadership Proven success in managing multi-channel campaigns, annual giving programs, donor segmentation, and retention strategies Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to write compelling stories and persuasive donor materials Strong digital fluency, including experience with website management, social media strategy, email marketing platforms, and CRM systems (preferably Blackbaud) Skilled in managing production timelines, vendor relationships, and creative processes across digital and print platforms Excellent project management, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects simultaneously High emotional intelligence, collaborative spirit, and ability to authentically connect with diverse individuals and communities PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 25 lbs Must be able to remain in a stationary position including standing or sitting for up 50% of the time Highly Desirable Qualifications: Experience in the Boys & Girls Clubs Movement or youth-serving organizations Oral and written fluency in Spanish Graphic design or photography experience; familiarity with design software and digital tools COMPENSATION:

$110,000-$125,000 based on qualifications and experience. Comprehensive benefits package includes five weeks paid vacation, 11 paid holidays, 12 paid sick days, medical, vision, dental, life and disability insurance, pension, and 403(b) deferral options.
