The Learning Experience Designer is responsible for the end-to-end creation and maintenance of self-paced, blended, and/or instructor-led courses designed as proprietary Alliance Safety Council courses or on behalf of Alliance Safety Council customers. Summary

Learning Experience Designer

The Learning Experience Designer is responsible for the end-to-end creation and maintenance of self-paced, blended, and/or instructor-led courses designed as proprietary Alliance Safety Council courses or on behalf of Alliance Safety Council customers.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position manages a range of standard projects, including coordinating resources, managing scope, and ensuring projects come in on time and on budget. This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Functions

Demonstrate competence in Learning Experience Design, including discovery, design and prototyping, development, user acceptance testing, publication, and measurement. Perform user-centric research to determine user needs for, expectations of, and reactions to proposed learning experiences. Write meaningful and measurable learning objectives. Develop outlines, storyboards, scripts, prototypes, and other design models as needed to gain buy-in to a learning experience. Create interactive and engaging content and activities that meet measurable learning objectives. Content may include but is not limited to eLearning, videos, audio, job aids or other visual materials, presentations, instructor and user guides and materials, handouts, and in-person and virtual classroom activities. Execute user acceptance testing, including following internal QA processes and working with approvers to ensure learning experiences meet or exceed expectations for delivery. Construct valid tests that demonstrate competency meeting measurable learning objectives. Publish learning experiences to the Alliance Safety Council environment (which may include but is not limited to an LMS, website, file structure, etc.) Evaluate and adjust learning experiences to current best practices, standards, and innovations as outlined by the Learning Innovation team. Other duties/tasks as may be assigned.

Computer Skills

Full proficiency in Office 365 Full proficiency in one or more eLearning authoring tools (such as Articulate, Captivate, Lectora, Camtasia, etc.) Experience with learning management systems administration, including posting and maintaining content, running basic reports, and troubleshooting bugs Competency in audio and video production preferred Competency in basic programming (particularly HTML5) preferred Competency in graphic design preferred

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of Learning Experience Designer, the employee must be able to withstand performing typical office work, which involves extended periods of sitting at a computer station and performing computer-related work, which generally involves repetitive motion tasks on a computer keyboard and viewing multiple monitors for prolonged periods. The employee must also be able to regularly stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, and kneel and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Mental Demands

While performing the duties of Learning Experience Designer, the employee must be able to function in a high-pressure environment and meet stringent deadlines for completing tasks; prioritize work and meet deadlines in a stressful and fast-paced environment. This employee may work remotely and will work regularly with a remote team both teams across and outside of the organization.

Work Schedule

The typical work schedule of the Learning Experience Designer is 40 hours per week, generally, Monday Friday, with flexibility regarding occasional evenings and weekend work, as dictated by project deadlines.

Qualifications

Learning Experience Designers must have a deep understanding of Learning Experience Design and adult learning principles as applied to self-paced, blended, and instructor-led programs. The successful candidate will have at least three years of experience working in learning and development, assessing training needs, designing, and developing learning and development experiences, and evaluating and maintaining learning experiences.

The individual must possess strong knowledge of tools used to create and implement learning programs, including but not limited to learning management systems, learning experience platforms, authoring tools, Microsoft Office 365, etc.

Learning Experience designers work independently on the full cycle of a learning project (from needs assessment to implementation) and must possess proven project management and consulting capabilities required to take a project from end to end. Successful candidates must possess the interpersonal and communication skills needed to interact with internal and external customers as needed during the needs assessment, review, and approval processes in order to complete projects on time and within budget while meeting or exceeding internal and external customer expectations.

Learning Experience Designers must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. A portfolio of work samples is required to be considered for this role.

This position requires a bachelors degree from a four-year college or university in education, human resources, or a closely related discipline. Advanced degrees in instructional technology, adult learning, education, or other closely related field are desirable. Experience in lieu of education may be considered. This position requires demonstrated expertise in written and verbal communications, and 3+ years of experience in a learning & development environment, with a preference for experience with occupational and safety training.
