AmeriCorps
Changes in our environment are happening now, and they are experienced differently across the City of Cincinnati. The Green Cincinnati Plan (GCP) is Cincinnati’s community-led strategic plan for action leading to a more resilient city. Revised every five years, the newest iteration of the GCP was finalized in April 2023. In the GCP, goals, strategies, and priority actions were established through community engagement in categories as broad as buildings and energy, natural environment, mobility, food, and waste. It is the responsibility of the Office of Environment and Sustainability (OES) and a variety of partners to bring the Plan to life. This VISTA, based at Cincinnati’s City Hall, will play a key role in implementing the current Plan. The overall focus of the OES VISTA Project is to increase the capacity of the City and community partners to keep the 2023 GCP moving forward so that residents and neighborhoods of Cincinnati can experience greater prosperity and resilience. This particular role will help OES and partners to more effectively communicate, collaborate, attract resources, and make strategic decisions.

Member Duties :
As a VISTA, you will have 4 key functions as we work together to implement the GCP. First, you will devise and implement an effective social media strategy. We have a pilot underway, and you will make it more effective and operationalized. Second, a plan of this scale can only happen with a multitude of well-coordinated partners. We need your help setting up tools and systems to better gather, support, and build trust with partners. Third, OES needs your help raising additional funds through grant prospecting and writing. No grant writing experience is needed, just a willingness to help us build this muscle. And fourth, we work in a dynamic field, and it's difficult to stay abreast of new trends in the field. You will help leadership move towards our mission by producing time-critical research to guide strategy. Through it all, you will bring fresh eyes and energy and equip key stakeholders as we build a more sustainable and resilient Cincinnati together.
