About the Firm

Goldstein Mauer PLLC is a New York City–based trusts & estates and private-client firm led by two prominent attorneys with a combined experience of 40 years. The firm counsels individuals, families, and business owners across the full life cycle of estate planning, estate administration, and estate litigation, with robust experience in corporate and business-succession matters. Our work spans contested and uncontested matters, including probate, administration, accounting proceedings, kinship hearings, contested probate, contested accountings, SCPA turnover/recovery proceedings, fiduciary misconduct, and related matters. You’ll work closely with the partners, and manage a meaningful caseload from pleading to resolution.

About the Role

We are seeking an attorney with 2-5 years’ litigation experience and trusts & estates experience to join our growing practice to:

  • Represent fiduciaries, beneficiaries, and interested parties in contested probate, accounting, and turnover proceedings before the Surrogate’s Court, including motion practice, discovery, and settlement negotiation.
  • Draft and argue motions under the SCPA and CPLR; handle discovery, witness prep, and evidentiary hearings.
  • Manage written discovery, subpoenas, and handle beneficiary communications, settlement agreements, and fiduciary disputes.
  • Assist with probate and administration matters, including petition preparation, heirship verification, fiduciary appointments and asset marshaling.

  • What We’re Looking For

    • JD and New York bar admission in good standing.
    • 2-5 years litigation experience is required.
    • 2-5 years of substantive trusts & estates experience, with experience preparing probate/intestate administration petitions and related filings for Surrogate’s Court, is required.
    • Experience in contested probate, contested accountings, and turnover/discover proceedings is strongly preferred, but for the right candidate with both litigation experience and substantive trusts & estate experience, the Firm will work with the candidate to develop them into a Surrogate’s Court practitioner.
    • Strong research/writing and motion practice; ability to take/defend depositions and argue motions.
    • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, time-management and project management skills.
    • Nice to have: WealthCounsel/Lexis; Clio; bilingual skills.
