University of California, San Francisco . Position Description We are seeking a Bioinformatician to join a multidisciplinary lab focused on neurodegenerative disease research. Job Summary The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bioinformatics, computer science, or computational biology, along with experience in the life sciences. The role involves designing and implementing analyses of high-dimensional data such as single-cell RNA sequencing, genotype or WGS data, proteomics, and digital pathology from human brain tissue. The candidate will utilize bioinformatics tools and databases to derive biologically meaningful insights, working closely with neuropathologists, neurologists, and neuroscientists. This position offers an excellent training opportunity for a computational or bioinformatics scientist interested in neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal lobar degeneration. The focus will be on identifying molecular signatures of vulnerable neuronal populations to aid in developing new treatments. The appointment will be with the Seeley Lab, part of the Memory and Aging Center at UCSF. Required Qualifications Assistant Specialist: Master’s degree or Baccalaureate in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field with at least three years of research experience. Associate Specialist: Master’s degree or equivalent with 5-10 years of relevant experience. Full Specialist: Terminal degree or equivalent with 10+ years of relevant experience. Proficiency in pipeline development, bioinformatic tools, data management, and programming languages such as R or Python. Experience with cloud storage and service tools. Preferred Qualifications MS or PhD degree. Familiarity with laboratory information management systems is a plus. Please apply online at
