Bookkeeper Position
Our client, a non-profit, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our finance team. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, processing transactions, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports. Key Responsibilities:
Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process in accordance with institutional policies and procedures. Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts monthly. Maintain financial records, including accounts payable/receivable, student billing, and vendor payments. Process payroll data and collaborate with Human Resources as needed. Assist in preparing budgets, financial statements, and other reports as requested. Monitor expenditures and assist in budget tracking for various departments. Respond to internal and external inquiries related to financial transactions and reporting. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations. Support annual audit preparation and collaborate with external auditors. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and personnel information. Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Ellucian/Banner, or similar ERP systems). Strong understanding of basic accounting principles. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. Experience working in a higher education or public sector environment. Familiarity with SUNY financial systems and reporting. Salary & Benefits:
