Job Title: Telecom/Network Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Telecom/Network Engineer to play a critical role in ensuring the seamless integration and modernization of communication systems. The successful candidate will contribute to the operation of upgraded systems, supporting future ASOS 2.0 deployments. Responsibilities include field deployment, network architecture, cybersecurity, and system integration for modernization of meteorological and aviation safety infrastructure. This position is contingent upon final contract award.
Job Responsibilities:
Design and implement modern IP communications systems supporting ASOS data transmission, ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure.
Coordinate telecommunications contract management, including circuit provisioning, tracking, and budget recommendations.
Identify risks such as communication outages and implement redundancy measures to ensure system uptime.
Maintain databases of NWS ASOS circuits, analyze vendor data, and prepare reports on network trends and outages.
Design, implement, and manage secure AWS network architectures, including VPCs, routing, and security measures.
Collaborate with teams on cloud network solutions, create documentation, and support application deployments within AWS.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, telecommunications, or related field.
15+ years of experience in software engineering and development.
Experience in network design, RF/wireless technologies, and communication protocols.
Familiarity with ASOS sensor integration, deployment, and testing.
Must pass NOAA background check (Public Trust).
