ND Paper Dragon Xpress
is a private fleet of ~30 trucks and ~100 dry-van trailers based in Sturtevant, WI.
The General Manager will work under the direction of the Sr. VP of Supply Chain Operations. This is a full-time salaried position. The hours of the position will be 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM but
should be available as needed given nature of the position.
Job Responsibilities
The General Manager (GM) of Trucking Operations is responsible for the overall leadership, profitability, and strategic direction of the trucking division. The GM ensures operational excellence, compliance with safety and regulatory standards, high driver and customer satisfaction, and financial performance in alignment with company objectives.
Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute business strategies to achieve growth, profitability, and operational efficiency. Identify new market opportunities and optimize existing lanes and networks. Collaborate with executive leadership on long-term planning and capital investment.
Operational Management
Oversee daily trucking operations including dispatch, routing, driver management, maintenance, and fleet utilization. Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, and safety protocols. Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for safety, on-time delivery, cost efficiency, and productivity. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize operational workflows.
Financial Management
Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting. Monitor P&L statements and implement corrective actions to meet financial targets. Control operating costs while maintaining service standards and safety.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop management, dispatchers, drivers, and support staff. Establish a high-performance culture with clear accountability. Develop recruitment, training, and retention strategies for drivers and operational staff.
Customer Relations
Maintain and strengthen relationships with key customers, brokers, and vendors. Ensure service levels meet or exceed customer expectations. Address and resolve customer service issues promptly.
Fleet & Maintenance Oversight
Ensure fleet maintenance programs maximize uptime and asset longevity. Oversee capital planning for fleet acquisition and replacement.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field (preferred). 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in trucking or transportation operations Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and safety compliance. Financial acumen with experience managing P&L Proven experience in driver recruitment, retention, and engagement Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Proficiency with dispatching software, TMS, and telematics systems (e.g., Samsara, Alvys) CDL-A holder strongly preferred
