Asphalt Laborer
Omaha, NE, US, 68138 Position Overview This is an entry level position involving laborer on an asphalt paving crew. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Shoveling, raking and any duties assigned by foreman. May learn operation all types of asphalt paving equipment including; asphalt paver, screed, rollers, broom and skid steer. May perform other related duties, such as adding or removing screed extensions, installing or removing automatic devices, grade log or other accessories associated with asphalt equipment. General understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. None, some experience in related asphalt and road construction preferred. Work Requirements Must be 18 years in age or older. Must a Valid Driver's License. Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check. Report to the plant dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required. Physical Requirements Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear. May require standing for extended periods of time. Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus. Able to climb ladders and work at heights. Able to move/carry up to 50 lbs. Able to work in all weather conditions. Work Environment While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, typical seasonal cold and heat temperatures. The employee is exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
